The SC4 Tutorial Series

I know you guys have said that Boggy1's thread is all that is needed tutorial-wise, but I still feel like doing these tutorials.

I will be doing a series of tutorial videos related to SimCity 4 for newbies. My first tutorial will be how to install custom content which will eventually lead up to how to install dependencies. I do need a volunteer to give permission to use their lots in the tutorials, one having no dependencies, one having minimal, and one having many dependencies.

Why am I doing these, you ask? I feel when I'm a newbie to something that I learn better by watching videos of people doing the task then reading a long thread about how to do something. So therefore I will be helping those who feel that way also.

Here is where the tutorials will be:

I might eventually make a separate account for the tutorials, but for now will be hosted on my personal Youtube account. Thanks.

No offense but the installing mods is overused, what I'd like to see is how to build effective cities, but good video non of the less

First of these I've seen. Pretty good, but perhaps a little fast for the average bear. You are instructing people who have not done this, but this one has overtones of preaching to the choir. I suggest a redo with a lot with no dependencies. The dependencies issue is quite important, and should not be brushed aside.

This one should explain that there are three main sites for lots, where they are, and what the specialties are in each case. Also, you need to improve your microphone speaking style. Perhaps you should add the sound track after the fact. Also, some nice smooth background music (not rock) could help this quite a bit. For this one, I'd use Pachelbel's Canon.

Good suggestion. I'm going to do this sometime later today.

Not much into classical music so I might use your music choice LOL.

^ Doesn't have to be classical music, but something that doesn't distract from the didaction. That canon has been recorded by several folk and modern, even rock, groups. Where do you think a lot of the catchy tunes are coming from? Take a walk up the Creek (J.S. Bach) and you'll find all kinds of good musical ideas, and then you need to find the track that pleases you.

Most of my stuff doesn't have dependencies. If you'd like to use one of my uploads as the guinea pig in your tutorial, feel free.

Hello everyone, I am new to this concept and I can see the plugins folder in my Simcity 4 Deluxe CD, but when I try to extract the zipped folders to my plugins folder, it keep popping up saying that I need to burn/write this into that CD, its not supposed to do that or whatever I may have been doing something wrong in steps.

Can anybody please help me with tutorial steps on downloading the BAT/Lots from STEX to making it work in the plugins folder and be able to see/use the buildings while playing simcity 4?
