[EDIT] I just like to note that I didn't use an expletive in the thread title. I'm new here and I don't want anyone to think my first post had an offensive title.

No problem... Yes, words such as "Newb" and others are replaced by the site software. Edited title.

First of all, here's the traceback-

ImportError: DLL load failed: The parameter is incorrect.

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "SC4Terraformer.py", line 1, in ?

File "SC4TerraformerApp.pyo", line 76, in ?

)

File "datReader.pyo", line 8, in ?

File "Numeric.pyo", line 91, in ?

ImportError: DLL load failed: The parameter is incorrect.

When I try to open the SC4Terraformer.exe file (both as normal and in compatibility mode), I get a message telling me to check the log file.

I'm using Win7 x64, I have the latest version of DirectX and I have the msvcp71.dll in both the /system32 and /SysWOW64 folders. I have rebooted numerous times as advised by the .dll install guides and I have the SC4TF and library.zip extracted in the correct way.

If anyone could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Try putting the msvcp71.dll file directly in the SC4Terraformer-folder and keeping that folder directly under C:

That solved the problem for me at least..

SC4TF uses DirectX 9.0C, which is not native to Windows 7, so you need to download it. It can coexist with Windows 7's native DirectX11 so issues should not happen.

Thank you both for the replies (and CaptCity for clarifying why the thread title was obscured). I've relocated the SC4TF to C:\SC4TFv10c both with and without the msvcp71.dll. I've downloaded and installed DirectX9.0c and tried running SC4TF with and without compatibility mode enabled but I'm still getting the exact same trackback report.

I've just removed all the the SC4TF and DirectX9.0c (April 2006 distribution) folders from my C drive and went through everything again. I was disheartened to see that everything happened again in the same order. So I decided to start over again tomorrow. I went to minimize my open windows but not before deleting DX9. What d'you know! this time there was a SC4TF windows asking me to select a region. Only it wouldn't work (DX9 having being deleted). So I went through the whole thing again and eventually got it working. Thanks everyone for there your help.

I think I'll play around a bit and see if I can find out the exact steps that need to be taken to get it to work. Then I can write a tutorial for newcomers.

Oh, one last thing. I thought there was something wrong with SC4TF the first time I used it. I selected the .sc4m file I'd wanted to use and nothing happened... loading screen, status bar etc. Then I started SC4 to see if the map had saved and it had. I thought SC4TF would have to create the map in the same way the game does with grayscales.
