3 new rewards for our collection, the army base, the cruise ship port and the farmer's market.

The only rewards left are the marina, the maximum security prison, the city hall and the Area 51. But I'm not sure If I really want to relot them as well...

Army base: Good job but it is somehow doesn't fit. The buildings look like too old fashioned. Also the lot looks a bit too open. My army base is more hi-tech. You can use NOB army robot props to make it look better.

I didn't want to turn the army base into a military headquarters, but a simple urban outpost. This is why I didn't add plenty of tanks, walkers and robots. Just a few are enough. The old offices may symbolize how outdated is the use of weapons to deal with problems that affect everybody...

Yes I know, double and triple posting is not a good idea. But I'm an evil guy who likes breaking the rules and teasing everybody. Mwahahaha!!

I made some decisions about the rewards. I'm not going to relot the maximum security prison, because there is no lot to play with it. The lot is as big as the building and I can't do anything for it. Increasing the size of the lot? This will make the replacement painful. And if I remember correctly, there are already a few relots of the jail. So no reason to relot the jail.

No reason to relot the marina. I like it as it is.

The city hall is too old and ugly to play with it. Every attempt to make the lot more futuristic will make it worse. Besides, the already has 2 awesome futuristic city halls. One of them overrides the Maxis one.

No reason to touch the fire plane runway as well. Let's leave it as it is.

As about the state fair, that's a tricky question. An old fashion state fair surrounded by futuristic farms doesn't make any sense. After all, maybe in the future the usage of virtual reality and the Internet will obsolete the need of state fairs, so I could relot it into a high tech facility. But isn't a bit too much? I don't know, I'm asking. Should I keep it or not?

And this means that I just finished with the last reward, the Area 51. Not many changes, as you can see...

But it seems that Area 51 need some moding, because the airplanes refuse to even move! I can only rotate them in U.D.I., but nothing more. The spacecraft works fine, but the airplanes are sticked.

Hold on a second! Does this means that I finally relot ALL low wealth lots?

Let me celebrate this milestone of Barsoom Project by building a low wealth city. Remember, all lots you're going to see are low wealth and reloted by me. Total 878 low wealth lots. And I'm not even in the halfway...

No more miserable ghettos. Even the poor people deserve a better quality of life.

No more boring commercial zones. Spice them up with gardens, underground parking lots and spacecrafts.

No more ugly industries. They'll still pollute the environment, but they'll look more cyberpunk.

I'll take a short break from the project. I have more important things to do after all. Then I'll be focused on medium wealth lots. This will be the ultimate pain in my butt...

Oh no! I see some Maxis buildings! They are just too old fashioned for futuristic cities.

A few Maxis buildings will still be constructed. Why? Because every lot has it's own stage and it should keep it as it is, no matter what. Here is an example. This is a stage 7 R$$ apartment building. In order to not mess the development the city, the lot MUST be stage 7, no matter what. Or else, we may end up with tons of stage 6 and 8 lots, but almost no stage 7 lot. Not a good idea.
 

We need a SimMars building large enough to keep the lot in stage 7, but not too large. Or else, the lot will be upgraded into stage 8. The building should not be too small, or the lot will be downgraded into stage 6. So, is there a SimMars apartment building, big enough for stage 7? Yes, there is. Let' replace the Maxis building with a SimMars one.
 

Just replacing is not enough. We need to change the lot itself as well.
 

Much better. I wonder if there are some other SimMars R$$ buildings for stage 7 lots. Fortunately, there are a few more SimMars buildings for this task.
 

Cool, more diversity. 3 buildings with the "same" lot. You'll not have the same building taking over the city.

But what about lots with no suitable SimMars buildings? Here is an example, a stage 7 R$ apartment building. I have tested all R$ SimMars buildings, but the results were stage 8 or 6 or 5... you get it.
 

So the only solution is using a Maxis building, an as suitable as possible one. The brown tenement is too ugly, so let's find a better one. Oh, and let's remove the misery feeling from the lot. Here it is. Trees, underground parking and cleaner ground. To make it more realistic and less possible to be constructed, the building will be appeared only in corner.
 

Besides, a few Maxis buildings will add a touch of history

I just have changed the lot and make it independent from water tiles, so you can build it everywhere you want. However it's not working properly. I'm not a modder, so I can't fix the seaport. I'll need help for that, but not for now. My priority for now is the reloting of the grownable lots.

I just made a very interesting discovery and I want to share it with you  . Have a look at this lot. This lot is 3x3, made by the Maxis team and reloted by me. It's a medium wealth office. Try to figure out it's stage.



Even better, answer this question. Where this small SimMars skyscraper will be constructed? In a low, medium or high density zone? Here is a small hint. The rest SimMars medium wealth offices will be constructed in the same stage as well.

I have finished with all stage 4 CO$$$ lots. Sadly none of the SimMars buildings could fit. Some of them downgrade those lots to stage 2 or 1, while others upgrade them to stage 5 and above. Only a few Maxis buildings could keep those lots in stage 4. Every lot has it's own stage and I want to keep it as it is, no matter what. This means that a few Maxis buildings will still be constructed. This is something I can "fix" it with the third and final part of Barsoom Project, but it's too early to even speak about it.

At the start and end of the runways there should be a diamond prop Tag1x1x3_Runway---Gnome

 

If you remove these props then the runway will not work

I have finished with all stage 7 R$$$ lots. Notice the redwoods and the mix of SimMars - Maxis buildings. I guess that some of the people of tomorrow may prefer living in those historic antiques.

But this update is not an ordinary one. Electronic Arts announced the first expansion pack for SimCity! Yeah, they solved the bugs and now they're ready to make expansions as well... who will still be incomplete and require Internet connection to build your tiny villages. Anyway, this expansion titled "Cities of Tomorrow" and will hit store selves on November 12. You guess right, we're talking about Anno 2070 in Simcity, with mult-zone MegaTowers that are three times the height of the tallest SimCity skyscraper.

As a futurism nerd I am, I really want to have a look at it. Bust since I don't even want to buy the new Simcity, I'll keep going with my project. In fact, I'll try to speed it up and release the part 2 of Barsoom Project on November 12. I can't guarantee anything, but at least I'll try.

I have an idea and I want your suggestions. I found a set of Japanese signs and I wonder if it's a good idea to use them. How? Check this out. I would like to add general informational signs in corner lots. Those signs will appear in medium and high density lots, like in large offices and apartment buildings. What do you think?
