Functional residential landmars and residential zones with pedestrian walks

I think the title say it all.

Is there any way, or trick or anything (except making a mod for it) to be able to make a pedestrian walk infront of residential zones and use no roads (or at least make them look like pedestrian streets only).

Well, I guess if you need something you have to do it yourself right?

Do you know what program I can use to make a street or a road texture mod or something?

And maybe how to use it?

Do you have any idea how to make functional landmarks? (including making them residential functional landmarks).

Ty in advance.

Functional residential landmarks: possible, but very bugged. They are highly vunerable for abandonment, and if they abandon, they will be abandoned forever.

Residential zones with pedestrian walks: Not sure, but I think it's not really possible. Sims tend to like their cars...

I do have one functional residential landmark in one of my cities. The batter made it "transit enabled" so a road passes through the lots. I plopped it several weeks ago and it has yet to abandon. I do not know why it has been able to sustain itself, as this is the first and only time I have got it to work in over 9 years of playing this game.

As for the pedestrian walks, I suppose it could be possible if you use a custom traffic simulator and make it favour transit and pedestrian activity heavily. However, I don't believe the residential zone will grow alongside the pedestrian malls, so roads will still be needed. I have my simulator set to transit and walking use, so I have some sims walking super-human distances.

Well I was making a city kinda self sufficient, with some vertical farms and everything, and tram systems and etc...

As for your problem, you have to make a residential zone first, and let it grow a bit, just till houses appear on it, and then place your functional landmark there, and it will work, you can remove the extra residential zones later in a while.

I think I will try the traffic stimulator

    Where can I download it?

It comes part of the NAM these days. I believe SC4Devotion has a stand-alone download. Ah, here it is Link --> https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2379

So, once you have it installed, you can run it and you should get the screen below. To encourage more transit usage, simply adjust the drop down towards the top to your liking. I like ticking the "park and ride" option too - just make sure to have plenty of parking garages near subway/train stops.

Below, you can toggle additional settings such as transit fares (you could even charge your sims to walk xD) as well as the capacities for the network types. Once you have your settings as you like, click save, exit the tool, then run the game.

    Great :D

Btw, what does that "monthly fares per sim per tile" do?

Do you know what is the tool (or program) to use to modify the roads and streets textures?

    Thanks in advance.

Btw, that still don't allow to build residential zones infront of pedestrian-mall walk.

Doesn't residential spawn cars before converting them to pedestrians?
