transfering game

Hi everyone i'm new to this form.

My ? is my son purchased cities xl 2012 online , we have it installed on my o;d comp. I just completed a custom build and would like to know how to get the game from the old to the new. if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it...Thanks

Hi Sonny,

I assume you mean to ask how you get the cities from the old game to the new? If the old game is Cities XL 2011, and you still have the savegames (or the entire installation), then it's a simple process:

1. Go to C:Users/[your name]/AppData/Local/Focus Home Interactive/Cities XL 2011/live/offline/solo - this is the folder where the city data are stored, as well as the trading matrix

2. Copy all folders and files from the above location to the similar location for Cities XL 2012. There are three files that you'll need to replace - adat, solocfg and tradematrix

3. Run the game. You should now see all your old cities under CXL 2012, and able to continue building them with the new possibilities.

Now, if your 'older' game was Cities XL 2009, I can't help you. You may try the same thing, but transferring cities from 2009 to 2012 was never done, to my knowledge, and we don't know if it'll work, since the two games are very different (unlike 2011 and 2012).

Excuse me for jumping in here but it seems to be a similar issue to mine. I don't have that thread on my drive. I show the update files in the program folder but industry and commercial won't grow. I can access the old cities by using the CXL 2011 link but no industry or commercial growth there either.

Guys, the Users/[your name here]/AppData is a HIDDEN folder. To access it, you'll either need to enable your Windows to show hidden folders somewhere in Folder Options, or alternatively, you could type manually the path in the Explorer.
