BIG freeze problem

Just a few days ago I started having issues, when playing in one of my larger cities, of the game catastrophically freezing up like never before, so bad that I couldn't even exit the game and X or ctrl-alt-del it out and would have to restart the computer. It seemed to start right around after I downloaded a new file from the STEX, one that was pretty old and well liked and reviewed. The tendency was to lock up after I hit the cheetah speed, but more and more it would happen at random.

I bulldozed the downloaded file from my cities and removed it from my plug-ins.

Still freezing up at random. Played in a smaller city, much smaller, barely built on at all, and it froze up again when I hit Cheetah, again the full-on restart worthy jam up.

Now, when I open this city up, it's December 26th. Every time I reach December 30th, on any speed, it doesn't progress past that date, and after 10-15 seconds does the full freeze. I cleared off space on the computer, wiped cookies and temporary files, turned it off and turned it on, and it's still happened.

    Any ideas?

Interesting but we need more information.

First, what is the version of your game? This can be found by navigating in windows explorer to Program Files/Maxis/ ... /SimCity 4.exe and hover your mouse over it. It will display (windows 7) the version of the program. Report this. To run with most custom content from here your game version must be at least 1,1,638.

Also, if you have an Exception Report (it's a folder) find the most recent .txt file, and post the first 20 lines (only). If you do this the game version is in the dump header, so you can kill two birds with one stone.

After we see your dump, we may be able to offer some real suggestions, or ask some more intelligent questions.

Well, never mind, I found the problem. I'd made a custom parking garage and for some reason that was the smoking gun. Deleted it and haven't had a problem since.
