How do you get people to use the freeway

Well after much reading and listening to tutorials... I have come to the conclusion that this game is going back on the back burner...Considering that freeways are a last resort with this game doesn't inspire a lot of hope.. The RHM cannot connect to ingame roads or any city links.. it can connect to the ingame freeway thru some convoluted process. but t I'm not the brightest star in the sky but I can get around a computer and Sim City games have always been fun for me, but this process seems to me, something that is still under construction and not really ready for use. I understand that and I'm willing to wait to see what comes of this... RHM and the ability to created interchanges that I've only seen created with Cityscape 1.8 is an incredible accomplishment...

Are you sure you you guys really understand the RHM principle?

Here is the hub for all RHM information, there are even video tutorials:

    http://xlnation.net/content/realistic-highway-mod-0

The way to connect the RHM roads to normal roads is to simply.... connect them :) Keeping in mind that the RHM lane tools are almost exclusively one-way, you might connect a 1-lane tool to the correct side of a normal road, just like any other road (you'll get a traffic light, of course). Or you could connect the 2-lane tool to a Normal Road which you make one-way.....

It's much more difficult to actually make the interchanges (there you need to combine the lane tools with the invisible transition pieces and the visible expansion/shrinking pieces).

By the way, RHM2 is under development, and is much more simple to use.

I really don't understand how everyone thinks CXL isn't going anywhere, considering the amazing mods that have appeared in the last three months.... I guess you're not looking at the right place - anyone checked XL Nation already?

Considering that you've been a tremendous help to me.. let me explain... when I stated that it was "going on the back burner.. I just meant I'm putting the game on the back burner personally, ... Cities XL is a good game.. believe me...but I'm in it only to create... this micromanaging just frustrates me.. I really would like to be able to just sculpt my cities any way I want.. but that's not whats happening right now.. and I'm OK with that. I'm been waiting to be able to make flyover freeways since Sim City 3000 (when was that 2000 1999) here it is 2012 and where just getting to the point where its possible... I can wait. Every tip you've given me I've been able to implement... so I'll give it shot.. and if I can't get to operate for me I'm gonna let everybody know... not that they care ... but It will make me feel good...

Update... I finally got people to use the freeways... but I'm sure it was an accident.. and I'm pretty sure that it has to do with my connections, something is definitely backwards. Speaking of RHM 2, I been using it for the past week.. but I've only been able to get elevated interchanges to work... on the XLNation forum I read that deleting the original RHM mod and its associated files would fix that.. when I did my game crashed to desktop when trying to load a city...

    Chokolate,

Yes, RHM1 was a veeeeery big challenge to built correctly. Even a single wrong connection would render the whole thing unusable, and I had many problems until I figure out the correct way of connecting the gazilion pieces. I'm not surprised at all that you had problems....

RHM 2 is much, much, MUCH more user-friendly, because it combines the invisible with the visible connector pieces, allowing you to visually see if a connection is as it should, or not. So, once it's released and working flawlessly, it'll make building highways much easier.

On the subject of crashes: I bet it's those damn invisible connectors, that only appear as arrows. I myself had a crash problem like that, I had to put back RHM1, open the city and examine the ground where the highway used to be one meter at a time, until I found that bastard arrow :)

I don't wish to talk bad about Pitty (RHM's creator), he was just doing what was possible at the time.... But RHM was indeed a pain in the arse to use. RHM2 promises to be a loooot better.

Unfortunately RHM2 has bugs and conflicts with other files.... beta3 didn't have any of these issues... so until RHM2 is cleaned up... I'm going to continue using beta3

    Yeah...

For me RHM2 - full works without problems. But then again, I use very few mods, apart of my own :)

And boy, is it an improvement over RHM1! What do you think?
