    Something that would be really good, would be to be able to walk on the streets as many others have said.

    :idea::???:

    With a full 3D engine, you should be able to fly around with just using the game camera. (Assuming the view isn't locked to certain angles.)

    On more general interest game forums, "SimCopter" or something like seems to be a commonly requested feature. I think it would sell a lot of copies.

    Well I am not a huge user of UDI in SC4, but it is fun occasionally... the main use for me has been to make a return rail loop around an entire large tile and drive the UDI train. The small planes are fun too... especially with the small crop dusting landing strip I made... you can fly from the small landing strip, and land on your smaller strip up in the hills and then fly back again.

    Like just about every other feature being discussed on this forum... UDI will be welcome as long as it can be turned off when not needed.

    I never really had use for UDI. I would prefer a tool where I can set an avatar down in the city and see the city from that perspective. To look down a boulevard, or up at the sky scrappers, or in the heart of a beautifully laid out park.

    If they don't take away time from other game development areas, or outsource UDI (after all it wouldn't affect the essential game mechanics), I'm all for various transport options. I have always thought how SimCity was like a reverse model railroad. The buildings and people and so forth are very realistic, and then there are these railways with trains that appear out of nowhere, travel up 70 degree angle tracks that resemble a bush track that has been eroded very badly, and then dissapear just before they would have arrived at the next station, which has a platform about one Pullman carriage long. Not to mention those beautiful 45 degree angle curves and the magical invisible railyards and marshalling yards that wouldn't look out of place next to the Knight Bus and Diagon Alley.

    GTA style challenges and all this 'hero and villain' stuff are ok as long as 1. They don't interfere with the gameplay or realism, and 2. Game development is not taken away from more important areas to fund this sort of thing. However walking or driving around as an avatar and viewing and interacting with your creation is no more bad an idea than buying a property and visiting it. Until now we have been prisoners in our own world.

    Personally I have no interest in UDI. I think it would work best as a stand alone game that can be seamlessly accessed in vanilla SC so the entire budget can be spent on making a great city simulator and a great driving/flying game, instead of a good city simulator and a decent driving/flying game all rolled into one.

    I agree.

    I love to drive around in my cities so I would not be pleased if they dont have UDI. But I would be ok with it not being in the game due to cost/time stuff. And as others said make the roads interesting to make UDI better and not put it far ahead of the to do list for the sim city team

    I enjoy UDI, but agree that it is better as part of an expansion pack. It was part of an expansion pack for SC4 afterall...

    But how would that be different from just using the camera at ground level?
