anybody can help me with this problem?

i've been used the LIVREADER to change lot names that I got in STEX,

I open the .desc file and simply change the lot name.

but... sometimes, in game, when I place the "ask" tool over the lot, the game chashes and the only option is the Ctrl + Alt + Del

    people, what Im doing wrong?

    tks

If you want to change the name of a Maxis lot, you can do it in game. Simply inquire on the lot and mark the name with your mouse and type a new name. Changing it in the reader patches the game tables. If your new name is of different length you may have to fix some check sum. Fooling with the data base needs considerable understanding.

Did you enter any non-standard charcaters? Such as German umlauts or anything with accents or other stuff such as "ñ"? This is a typical reason for crashes.

What exactly did you change in the desc file? The exemplar name? Or the item name? In any case, both of these entries are normally limited to plain ASCII characters; if you want to use special characters, you have to enter them in a special unicode format instead.

If you want to use special characters, you will fare better using iLive's other tool called LEProp. This one automatically adds a property called "User Visible Name Key" to the desc, which in turn points to an LTEXT file (that will also be added automatically, so no fear). These LTEXT files can contain special characters, so with LEProp you can enter any name "as is", and the game won't crash.
