    Hi all,

I'm a bit of a newbie at BATting (I'd never used Gmax until a week ago, and the last time I used anything resembling like it was TurboCAD couple years ago - ended badly :P) so first off, any criticism or comments would be much appreciated.

I think my main focus would be on older buildings/Hong Kong buildings ('cause that's where I live), but since I spend significant amounts of time in England I might try and BAT something there as well.

Anyway, following on from the Cenotaph I've managed to finish another BAT, this time of the Old Bank of China Building in Hong Kong.

I'll probably try and attempt another BAT tomorrow - tons of time over the weekend. I'll post pics of my progress!

But first I want to ask a question about testing a BAT. How do you guys test a growable BAT? Especially those which are of higher levels - I intended the Bank of China Building BAT to be CO$$$ growable, but I can't think of a way to test it. And I still haven't figured out how to make ploppables...I followed the tutorials and failed ><

    Anyway, thanks for reading this!

Try to get 3ds max is more powerful and easier to use has more options and gives better results than gmax, all you need is a school/university e-mail account.

You can use the cheats to plop buildings.

    Good luck

    Hi all,

Sorry for being away for quite some time, busy with university stuff and all that.

Anyway, I've decided to try and recreate the Hopewell Centre in Hong Kong.

I've attached a picture of what I've done so far.

Comments would be appreciated, especially on the following questions:

    1. Should I keep the texture of the swimming pool on the rooftop? I can't find better top-down pictures of circular swimming pools than this, so it's either this or some concrete texture.

    2. Are the textures/color scheme ok? (Well, as much as you can see from the 'draft' quality of the building)

    3. Is the base of the Hopewell Center detailed enough? IRL the Hopewell Centre is built into a mountain, so there were no references when I worked on the southern, western and eastern faces of the tower base. As such, they are quite bland compared to the northern facade. But it IS primarily an office building, and it does make sense for the northern face (which is also the main entrance) to be more ornate than the others...

Will post the night lighting pictures when I get around to doing them.post-63215-0-34487700-1331117932_thumb.j

It looks pretty good at this point. I like the modeling so far. But I can't see many details with that zoom of render. Do a higher zoom and just do 1 or 2 directions to cut down on some of the render time. Also, I would include the picture directly into your post.

Also, I recommend getting that 3dsmax. As long as you have access to to someone with a college e-mail address it's very easy and free to get and it makes renders cleaner and has many more options.

    Oh darn!
