    Welcome to Simtropolis...

You might want to read through these two posts designed to get newcomers started... (Link) (Link)

As for Simgoober's prop pack, it is a rather common "dependency" and may very well be needed for others' works. Any time you add a downloaded plugin to the game, always be sure to check any download instructions for those other items that may be needed for functionality and appearance - that's what "dependencies" are. They would need to be downloaded separately and installed in the Plugins folder.

Just a little amplification: If you are not a programmer this will probably help.

Dependencies are usually graphics items like textures (wall paper) and props (like stage props) that are used to enhance the buildings and lots in the game that are made as custom content. Common textures are nice to have if you are making a set of lots that need to have a similar appearance. Props are things like separately modeled trees, bushes, fountains, benches, statuary, etc. Collectively these things are called dependencies or reusable objects.

A dependency download is like a library that can be used by others at need. The more of these libraries you have, the easier it is to create new lots by using things from the library as trimmings.

In the programming world this is called object reuse and follows a design principle called Object Oriented Design (OOD), and using it is called Object Oriented Programming (OOP). Languages like Visual Basic.NET, Java, C++, and many other very high level programming languages are really quite dependent on the idea of an object, often called a class in the programming language. If you really want to know more about this, I am a teacher of programming, and will be glad to talk to you. Send me a PM.

NAM is a must, you can download that here. Also, RHW and CAM. Those are the most essential, but there are many more depending on what you want. There are texture mods, demand mods, etc. There are also many ploppables (buildings that you have to put down yourself, these won't grow in zones) that you can download.

Don't overload yourself with these large mods just yet, especially CAM which will confuse you because it has some incompatibilities you have to handle. Start slowly in the custom content game and hold off the other stuff until you are ready. RHW is a NAM add-on, and you should probably consider NWM before that. RHW will make you learn to be a civil engineer of sorts. Good exercise with the mayor mode excavation tools.

All of these things are specialty items. Start with the basic NAM and get your feet good and wet first. Preferably right up to your waist at least. NAM is a huge package and needs some work and seasoning to understand its facets.

Depending on your goals, you may want the CAM later to produce a megalopolis.

RHW let's you create a highway system model that will blow your mind, but it is another big learning curve.

NWM will give you very wide streets. You could model the Champs Elysée with it.

Take your time. The repositories are not going anywhere any time soon.
