I just found the right answer to a 1/2-year old or so question... Erdmoebel You once asked about the original building for Your corner lot with that grand portico and two towers? I then suggested that it was a hotel at Potsdamer Platz, hmm actually i thougt it was not such a great model, because it differed to some extent from the original... well now I have reconcidered it after finding a better match in the real world. It was called the Kaiser-Gallerie and was situated at Unter den Linden/ Friedrichstrasse/ Behrenstrasse (for those of You who do not know Berlin, it is THE location for exclusive shopping). This building had not a courtyard, but a great shopping galleria a little like this famous one in Milano... You will find lots of pics in www.bildindex.de -> Profanbau / Gesch

It is hard to get the stupid sims to build what you want 2.gif ! Well, there is a way to help them to understand what the mayor wants. When I zone, I zone 1x1, 1x2 or 2x2 sones with gaps inbetween. Then the sims build their houses, and they cannot build larger than 2x2 of course. This forces them to build small and compact, no larger lots with parking spaces and such. When You have nice w2w buildings (maybe after some helpful demolishing), landmark the buildings and fill the gaps with new zones and let more w2w houses develop.

The facade looks really good, like those buildings that were cheaply fixed up after the war. But those buildings do never have dormers, when they were built only five res/com floors was allowed and the attics were only for storage - with only very few and small windows. Dormers are only added on lately renovated buildings. I would suggest more and smaller chimneys as well for better realism. Keep up the good work!

This time I' ll make a realistic cupola with that mirror column inside and all the steel beams on the outside it's wrapped in. Whatever.. today I almost finished the main portal section:

WOW, das sieht einfach nur mal geil aus 44.gif

I live in Berlin and I have to say that it looks like the real Reichstag ( or the Bundestag)

And If you're seariching for some more ideas , you could start to work for example one the Schloss Sanssouciin Potsdam (near Berlin) or on something in Potsdams Schlossgarten

    Here some pic's
(Falls du interesse haben soltest, weil du ja sagtest, da

I'd love to make Schloss Sanssouci after the new Reichstag is finshed. The castle itself shouldn' t be too difficult. The Neues Palais would be the real challenge about it

Yeah, Sanssouci would be very cool and you're right, the Neue Palais would be more diffucult than the actual Sanssouci, just cause one part is nothing more than rubble if I can remember it correctly 41.gif
So, maybe Schloss Charlottenburg would also be awesome, but I think, I may let it be as an option for me to build48.gif

P.S.: Kommst vielleicht ma wieder innen IRC-Chan?1.gif

    Woah, how psychedelic 46.gif
gerandi is right, I can' t see the pictures, too. Maybe something's wrong with the URL? I posted this picture yesterday evening on insims.de:
    Reichstag2b.jpg
As you can see I started to work on the wings. The polygon count already exceeds my previous model and the wings are by far not finished yet. The picture is scaled down (photobucket wouldn't accept the original size) so some details are blurry or hardly visible
