The 29 Hour War - Follomer

Before the current Follomer CJ, a short but damaging war of dominance took place in the heart of Follomer, a small but prosperous nation in the North-East Pacific. Threatened by the development of potentially devastating weapons, and the will to use them if necessary, a Coalition of Governments banded behind the Americans, and launched a preemptive Invasion of the Follomer mainland. Within the first hour of the War, Follomer's Capitol City Saint Kristina, was the first to be laid siege to. Because of how sudden the attack came, thousands of civilians were caught in the fighting, trying to flee. The Battle for Saint Kristina would be known as the costliest of the War.

The Americans had hoped their forces would capture the Capitol City quickly, with relative ease, along with the Chancellor himself. However they underestimated the quick response of the Follomer Home-guard, and the Chancellor escaped to coordinate a defense in safety. The city streets quickly turned into a battleground. Even though the Chancellor escaped, the city seemed lost. The invading forces were overwhelming the Home-guard divisions stationed in the city, and with much of the regular Army elsewhere in the nation, hope for relief was dwindling, for they feared they wouldn't arrive in time..

The 29 Hour War was my first large story arc I've ever made in a CJ, and I felt, for it's importance in much of the journal's background, It didn't get as much screentime as I wanted. Now, with a re-built city, I'll be retelling the events of the war, from the first attack and the Battle for Saint Kristina, to the last hour and the return of peace.

Expect to see some major Call of Duty inspiration. And enjoy the theme to Modern Warfare 3 to set the mood.

Chancellor Archean: Gentlemen we may have very little precious time. Are our defenses in place?

Brig. General Vauban: Yes sir. Our AeroTrack grid has the airspace in and around both Follomer and Virgin Shores covered. Nothing can get past it without us knowing about it.

Chancellor Archean: Good, good. We dragged Virgin Shores into this, I want to make sure they will be protected.

Brig. General Vauban: Don't worry sir, we already have several Infantry and Armor Divisions settling in as well as the 1st and 3rd Fleets. And as you wanted, the 2nd Fleet is at anchor just off the coast of the city.

Tristan sighed, staring at the conference table.

Chancellor Archean: I honest to Goddess hoped it wouldn't come to this. But this world is too damaged, and the rest of it won't listen to us. And it's not like the new Orbital Defense Array helped, now they believe we'll wipe them off the face of the Earth if they don't, 'bow down'. We're not like that! I'm not a Dictator!

Brig. General Vauban: Permission to speak freely sir?

Tristan nodded and rubbed his forehead. Vauban stood up straight, clasped his hands behind his back and looked over at the Chancellor with a strong, resolute gaze.

Brig. General Vauban: I believe you're doing the right thing. It may be considered, extreme, a little. But the state of the world is extreme. The steps you've been taking are admirable to the defense of this country, and for the well-being of the rest of the world.

Chancellor Archean: I appreciate your praise General, however forgive me for my lack of enthusiasm about it. I fear...something, is going to go horribly wrong.

The doors to the room suddenly swung open, with Commander Trellian and two Home-guard soldiers behind him, standing ready at the door way.

Commander Trellian: Tristan, we need to go. Something's come up.

Chancellor Archean: Trell?

Commander Trellian: I'll explain on the way but we need to move, NOW.

Tristan and the General exchanged looks as the both of them headed out of the room. The Soldiers seemed on edge, their rifles in hand. They we're just heading outside when the first explosions were heard in the distance.

8 Minutes Earlier

The Office of Military Intelligence Building,

Downtown Saint Kristina

PFC. Esson: You're full of crap Don.

PFC. Don: Keep saying that.

PFC. Esson: I mean really, when was Follomer EVER invaded. And the war with the FLF doesn't count. They we're terrorists.

PFC. Don: The term used was 'Para-Military', and even if they didn't count, it could still happen.

PFC. Esson: You play too many Call of Duty games. Besides, that's what we're here for. To make sure Invasions don't happen. Now can you double check your L.R.R.?

PFC. Don: What about it?

PFC. Esson: Mine's all funked up. It's telling me it reads multiple contacts, but the blips keep blinking in and out. Glitch maybe?

PFC. Don: No, no I'm getting the same. I'm getting about 30 plus bogeys approaching...from the West?

PFC. Esson: I'm seeing West also, but they aren't solid.

The two tried to figure out what they were seeing when they were contacted from off-site.

Godder AFB: OMI Control, this is Godder, I need confirmation of a faulty radar signature of about 30 plus contacts heading right to you. Please verify?

PFC. Don: Godder standby.

Then the Comm exploded with chatter.

F.N.S. Connors: OMI Control! 2nd Fleet is under fire from hostile Air! Repeat we are under attack!

PFC. Esson: Holy crap.. We gotta get a warning out!

Private Don then opened a Comm with every Military Installation near the coast.

PFC. Don: All stations be advised! Long Range Radar has been jammed! Hostile Air forces are incoming, say again, Follomer is under attack!

@Schulmanator: The buildings certainly will!

@Skyscraper241: Because of the ships in the bay? That first image was actually inspired by the second New York City level in Modern Warfare 3. Although the original telling of this in my CJ didn't show any ships in the bay, no one said there wasn't. So I'm having fun filling in the gaps.

@Jack3oh3: What do yah know, me leaving the sims and cars settings to off helped. It is more realistic though you have a point. When I get more shots at Zoom 5, I'll make sure to get in some destructive details on the streets and concrete.

@daTSchikinhed: I'm sure the aide would have shortened the 29 hours!

@Emperordaniel: More is on the way! If i can find the story I need, expect this CJ to have at least 29 separate updates!

@Nathonthemayor: Not amazing, there can always be a lot better environment detailing like debris and stuff, and I'm nowhere near that level. Most I can do is pasted objects like vehicles, simple lighting effects and fires/simple explosions. But thanks so much for the praise!

S.K.P.D. Radio: All units, Emergency, Emergency, return to your precincts immediately.

Saint. Krist-Uniden Intl. Airport: I'm seein' Fighter Jets over our airspace but not responding.

Office of Military Intelligence H.Q.: Execute emergency evacuation of the building! All security personnel prepare for armed intrusion.

O.M.I. Guard: Get the roof secured, we're evacuating!

Chancellery Building Helipad

Guard: Chopper's ready for you sir!

Chancellor Archean: The hell is going on Trell?! Smoke from downtown??

Commander Trellian: Our Long Range Radar's been jammed sir, we're under attack.

Chancellor Archean: We need to call our forces back, they're at least a day's away!

Brig. General Vauban: We need to get you to safety first sir!

Ghost 2-1: Gold Phoenix is on-board, say again we,..damn! Fast mover brace!

Ghost 2-1 Pilot: Banking right!

Commander Trellian: Geezus they took out the conference room!

Chancellor Archean: How did they know where we were!?

Ghost 2-1 Pilot: Holy hell that was close..

Commander Trellian: Get us out of the city before he makes another pass 2-1.

Downtown Piers

Out of fear, everyone still at the piers ran from the Osprey's that touched down at the sea-wall. Squads of U.S. Rangers emptied out of them.

From the main road, two police interceptors raced toward the piers to confront what was going on.

The two pulled onto the pavement and then skidded to a halt in-front of two squads of soldiers. The cops jumped out of their cars and each side pointed their weapons at each other.

S.K.P.D. Officer: Don't move!!

U.S. Ranger: Put down your weapons and surrender! You're outnumbered and outgunned, if you cooperate you will not be harmed!

The three cops looked at each other, with no clue what to do. They wouldn't make it against 14 Army Rangers, and more we're behind them.

Office of Military Intelligence H.Q.: Evac under way.

O.M.I. Guard: The V.I.P.s are secure and away and, oh no..

Ghost 5-2: We've been painted! They fired, brace, brace!!

Ghost 5-2: Gaagh! Agh we lost our tail! 5-2 going down! Hold on!

The guard ran to the edge of the roof and watched the Helicopter plunge into the bay, the rotors breaking into pieces on impact.

O.M.I. Guard: 5-2 is down! Say again 5-2 and the V.I.P.s are down in the bay!
