Hey everyone! I have been working on a CJ based in the Pacific Northwest, and I'd love a new terrain mod.

Any ideas? I am thinking a few key features:

    • Green, lush lands
    • snowy mountain tops

I think that the CPT Olympic Terrain Mod might work, but I would love to hear any other ideas!

If you're going for a verdant Pac NW feel, Olympic or one of the snowcapped versions of the Columbus terrain (which is still quite green, but a bit less so) on the LEX over at SC4D would do the trick. However, I notice you're trying to create a fictional Bend.

I don't know how well you are familiar with the climate of the Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. There is a common visual image folks have of Oregon, that it's green and verdant and covered with temperate rain forest (e.g. Douglas-firs, Sitka spruce, etc.), but in fact, that only really applies to the western third. Most of the eastern two-thirds of Oregon (and ditto with Washington) is actually high desert or semi-arid scrub steppe with four distinct seasons. While there are forested regions to the south and west of RL Bend, they are "transitional" forests, populated with trees that typically thrive in drier, higher climates, such as Ponderosa Pines and Junipers, typically with sagebrush as underbrush. To the north and east is less-dense juniper flats and more sagebrush. This can be seen in viewing a satellite overview of Bend.

I realize you're working in the realm of fiction in which you could stick Bend/Deschutes anywhere you wanted, but I thought I'd give you an additional option to consider.

    Thanks so much, Tarkus!

As it turns out, I am not trying to remake Bend, OR, though of course it appears that way. I wanted to use the name "Deschutes" after the makes of Mirror Pond Ale, which I was enjoying when I started the idea of this CJ a year ago. And I have a friend from Bend, and I though I'd use it as one town's name.

I didn't realize that Bend was in Deschutes County at the time!

Thanks for the tips.. I think that I will use the Oylimic Mod.

    Woo!
