Is anyone else taking part in NaNoWriMo? I'd like to know if I have any company in trying to write 50,000 words in a month.

If so, what's your idea for your novel?

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I'm in. I've got an ongoing story I've been writing for nearly a year now that must be over 150,000 words, but that'll be put on hold.

Ideas? I like the advice, "Write what you know." I love comic books and superheroes and crazy stories, but was never very good at writing those. So, I've written a bunch of drama. The Six is about some of the genetic "winners" in high school. I wonder if for NaNoWriMo I'll write from the other side, something closer to my experience as a teenager... Or maybe something different altogether. Something... a little sad or bittersweet. That's where my feelings sit at the moment. May change next week, but I have a feeling. I do know that I won't be making any kind of a statement with my writing. Why bother? The best writing is ambiguous and lets the reader project his/her own feelings onto it to get something more personal from it anyways.

Another day and we'll see what happens when I put pen to paper (and eventually fingers to keys) and start writing!

So its back...

I have a goal of eventually writing something someday. Not in a month, just however long it takes. It can be tough. After a few thousand words, my brain is like "oh that was fun, but this is very boring".

Oh well, if any of you guys produce anything I'll gladly read it. Have fun.

They say that everyone has a novel in him. I have had several false starts, but haven't given up. I can't do this in a month, however. I am not that kind of writer. I'll try and get it done before I terminate.

Right now, I am working on getting my composition skills up with the help of Muse Score. Yes, Virginia, I also write music. At the moment, just a few sound bites for my alarm system, but I am getting more ambitious.
