"Save As" no longer an option?

I just purchased SC4Deluxe and I can't find "Save As" as an option anyplace. In previous versions, I would save a city as I went along with the year attached to the file name, and sometimes go back and replay from a certain point with a different plan to see which worked better. In this game, it looks like you can save only as the one name , and never make a copy with a "save as" option. It's kind of a pain to have to leave the game to make a copy of one you just saved, so you can play it again from that point. Am I missing something?

thanks,

Carl

Welcome to Simtropolis.

I'm afraid there never was a 'Save As' function for this version of SimCity 4. If you want to do what you described, you'll have to save the city, and then move it to a location outside the regions folder, and find some way to date each copy. You may place each under a sub-folder for example, and title the folder '22nd October 2011' or similar.

Keep calm and take photographs.

Yoshi's right. In Simcity4, you start a city tile and just keep saving your progress with it. If you want to start over, exit the tile without saving, and the tile will reload from the last available save point. There's no multiple saves option. Unless you get creative like he said, like going into your region folder, taking the city tile file, make a copy of it and stash it somewhere else as you play and save over the original.

Hi! I'm Mike, the creator of Folland. You can find her in the forums or the CJ Section.

Well, that pretty much sucks. I hate it when they upgrade software and take away functionality.

    Thanks for the help guys.

The best solution is to drop out of the game occasionally and copy your region folder to a backup spot. You can keep as many as you like. You need the whole region because of what z1 said.
