Good morning mappers,

This small update to say that 2 maps have been uploaded on the STEX :

Zlatoust-Miass - Russia (3 arc resolution)

Rochester - Minnesota (1/3 arc resolution)

Still many tiles to render !

Tatvan and Lake Van - Turkey (3 arc resolution)

Portree and Skyes Island - Scotland (1 arc resolution)

Hi Gentlement,

Another experimentation I would like to share with us here. 10000000000000 has recently requested for a map of western coast of Florida, called Ten Thousand Island.

This part of coast is full of small islands, mangroves and inlets : a real nightmare to map you might think ! (and beware of alligators too...).

So I gathered 1/3 resolutions datas and launched the mapping machine. Important thing to know is that elevation is very low : between 0 meters and... ...almost 8 meters at "highest" spots. Sea depht is also very low too with a deepest spot at -5 meters, some kilometers away from the coast.

Here is the Terraformer interpretation of the elevations datas, without ANY redrawing :

I finally only edited the water zones in order to create a small gradient like this :

No satellite datas, no pictures, no layers here : only elevation datas !

That's beautiful Izi! I was so wrapped up in exams lately, I had completely forgotten about my request , but I am so glad to see you took up the challenge! The map looks very nice! Truly a nightmare, but it's exactly what I would love to play on! Would you consider uploading a rendered version of it ?

I love geography, but you are an artiste, a geographer, and a cartographer and your work shows it. 

 

Hats off to you and these excellent maps.  I live in the Detroit area, and your map of my city was great, and I really like the Oregon map.  Think you could ever do a map of the Crater Lake area of Oregon?  Not a large map, as I get overwhelmed by the big ones.  But it's a wonderful area, geographically speaking, and it would be a credit to your already awesome collection I think.

Hi everyone,

 

It has been a long time since my last visit around here... ...as private life has considerably changed in the past months, I had absolutelly no time for any mapping. So I would just like to tell you that I'm still lurking around these forums like a ghost... ...but I did not quit mapping already !

 

I noticed that Drunkapple released some more incredible maps recently, making me salivating in front of screen... ...why not returning to work then ?

 

@ ErictheDredd : can you send here a zoning of the area you want ? As you want a rather small map, it may be possible to reactivate the mapping machine with this small piece of cake...
