Pay careful attention. You need to add a setting to your command line in the short cut that starts the game.

In the shortcut when you look at its properties you will find a line like this for the target:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe"

The reason this is enclosed in quotes is because of the spaces in the line. Space is normally a word-ender in commands and we want these spaces included because they are part of the file path.

Now, we are going to add a couple of new words to this line, and each one must be separated from each other by spaces. Add the following to the line at the end:

-CustomResolution:enabled -rWxHx32

Where W is the width of your screen in pixels and

H is the height in pixels.

If you don't know what these are, look at your GPU controller program and it will tell you what it is running the screen at.

Your finished command line will look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -rWxHx32

except you will have filled in the values for W and H. Be sure there is a space in front of each hyphen. Sorry for the tiny type, I wanted this on one line.

If you want to get rid of the startup EA movie, you can also add -intro:off

You are welcome. I got a new 1920 x 1080 monitor today and this is my command line:

    "C:/Program Files/Maxis/SimCity 4/Apps/SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32

Doesn't work for me. Please, help.

Remember that when you add options they are like words in a sentence. Did you put spaces before each of the hyphens?

    -CustomResolution:enabled- r1600x900x32 -intro:off

Adding this to my shortcut didn't change my screen resolution, but it did get rid of the intro.

    -CustomResolution:enabled- r1600x900x32 <<This is incorrect. -intro:off

    Change it to:
-CustomResolution:enabled -r1600x900x32
Great find, Jack. Clearly a syntax error.
