-I have the NAM & CAM mod. My region has more jobs than it has people. What is the standard people to jobs ratio & what can I do to fix this problem.

-Also what are the best transportation methods to get sims to travel further to their jobs. I want to have some residential sections that are more secluded and far away from job centers. So what can I do to keep these residential sections from getting abandoned.

Railroads is probably the best method for transporting people far away to their jobs. It works for my region.

The Sims population appears to be based on the American core family of two adults and 1.3 children, where only one adult is the bread winner.

For suburban populations the various rail options work well. The Elevated Rail/Subway/GLR set is well integrated and can be used effectively with as much diversity as you like. Heavy ground rail will also work, and the real estate requirement is only relieved by the subway system which can also be used in conjunction. Good bus availability leading to the rail system is always good. Heavy rail has its own parking facilities, but the others do not. With EL you will need parking garages.

If you have island populations, ferry is better than bridges. However, I prefer passenger ferries with parking garages at the residential end as it reduces car traffic in the commercial/industrial heart.

If you use all of this intercity, be careful to maintain a tree structure to avoid the odious commuter loop where they never get off the transit system.

I like monorail between cities, but EL or subway will work as well.

The pop:jobs ratio in the game is set to 2:1. Civic buildings provide jobs too, so your population must be somewhat more than the double of C+I jobs. In your case, I suspect two possible causes:

    - The Eternal Commuter Bug (circular commuting. Check the SC4D forums for details.

    - How did you install CAM? Did you merge simcity_1.dat? Otherwise some regional statistics may be doule-counted, causing problems like these. Not sure if it is possible to force the game to recalculate the regional statistics, maybe try removing cities and re-importing them, but I have doubts. Better merge CAM with simcity_1.dat as described in the SC4D forums and start a new region.
