So I downloaded a couple maps, loaded them properly, got them in game just fine. But when I open up the cities to render it in SC4 colours, the elevation levels increase dramatically, and when I try to lower it, the water table disappears.

So I have a huge map that, if I ignore the problem, will become a huge hi-elevation area that should look like a coastline. Any suggestions?

    A couple possibilities...

You have the Diagonal Bridge Enabler mod in your Plugins. If so, remove the file ~Diagonal Bridge Enabler (Temporary Files) and load the cities again.

Or you have a plugin which includes a height mod. You might try rendering the cities without any Plugins.
