Streetcar Modding?

Hello, fellow Simtropolians. As somebody who knows absolutely nothing about transit modding, I am coming to the more experienced members with what (I hope) should be a fairly simple question...

    7077_02.jpg

I came across these wonderful train mods by NOB_From Japan on an external website. The only issue I have with them is that I feel they would be more useful to me on a light rail system. Such streetcars exist in ELR/GLR form, but they are each single streetcars, not entire trains. I was wondering if I could mod either the 'heavy rail' or light rail versions to function as trams on GLR tracks with multiple cars?

I appreciate any sort of responses.

    best regards,

    -Ian

Hmm, I think you can do that. Get ilive's reader for that one.

I do indeed have the reader, and I was playing around extensively with the modding of the files. The problem is, most .dat files contain an exemplar, as was the case with the other files I researched. The file I was trying to change, however, did not have an exemplar that read 'automata: train', so I'm not sure how the creator managed to over-write the default maxis heavy rail trains, much less how I could change them myself. The only file I saw that could've done it was the DIR file, and I'm not even sure of that. Moot point, since I can't even read HEX code.

Oh well, I'll just use another light rail mod. I actually like some of the light rail skins I've seen a little better. They seem more flexible on the NAM-Tram's tight corners in avenues, roads, and streets.
