Info on uploading a map....

Hello,

Thanks to Lord Dimwitt Flathead I am now having as much, if not more, fun creating maps (in Photoshop) as actually playing the game.

I will create a map, open it in game and right away think "I know I can do this better"...then I redo it, & redo it again.

I have done one that I am pretty happy with and I'd like to share it on here, for feedback & critique.

Can someone walk me thru the process of uploading a map, please?

This map is 769 x 1025. The config file is 12 x 16, including 21 cities (9 large).

Do I combine the MAP and the CONFIG in a zip file and just upload it? Is anyone allowed to do this, or is there someone who has to approve it?

How do I get a screen shot (for a visual description) without the "border" on it?...and do I put that in the zip file or is it uploaded separately (from Photobucket or something)?

I think those are all of my questions so far. Thank you, in advance, for any & all help.

If you make a lot of maps I assume you have terraformer.

You go in to the "global" I think it is and export as a sc4m file. You put that and the config into one folder and zip it. Then you can upload your file to the STEX by clicking the upload file button.

You take take pictures of the entire region using Region Cencus, which is on the BSC LEX.

Here is a link to region census.

I hope to see your new map on the STEX soon :)

EDIT: Here is a tutorial.

Thanx for the help....but, on the BSC Lot Exchange page - there are ZERO links for me to download anything. I did register there a while back, but now I do not remember the password, and there isn't a "forgot your password" link there.

As far as "terraformer"...no I did not use this for creating the map, I made it in Photoshop.

Found this on the SC4D-forums. Guess you are gonna have to ask for a new password.

So, I did use the link "yarahi" provided (Thank you) & I am awaiting their response.

...but, will I be able to use the "photo" I created in Photoshop? ...or will it not work with that format?

I am sorry for all of the newbie questions, but, er, uh,..... I'm a NEWBIE!!!

First you save your photoshop image as a bmp, open up terraformer, create a new region, go to the global tools tab, and Import your image from photoshop. Then follow the instructions on the tutorial I posted above.

I hand sculpted a small (5x5 large cities) map that I would like to upload. I have an SC4M file, a jpeg of the rendered region and jpeg of the config file. Does the config file need to be in another type? Then what? This will be my first upload so I have no experience at what to do. I've included a picture of  the region.

    Thanks,

    Dick Wright

The config file must be in BMP format, since that is the format the game uses. Other than that, it's wise to add a good description to the file and this region screensho

Thanks for the reply and advice. I'm guessing that the config is in the SC4M file, correct?
