    I found this interesting article that talked about Crysis 2's DirectX 11 patch, and how much tessellation it used on seemly simple objects: http://techreport.com/discussions.x/21404#metal

    Now take a look at the polygons in it: window-water-mesh-620.jpg

    That purple mesh is the water. Do keep in mind that the water is very distant from where the character is standing, and yet the GPU still has to display the water's mesh.

    holy moly thats some unnecessary GPU time wasted here... Let's do such detailed tesselation in a game in like... say... 10yrs when there's both the resolution standard and the processing power high enough to justify such polygon counts
