My residential growth STOPPED on Condos phase

I already played simcity for a year now but my oldest city's (53 yrs old) residential growth stops growing when it reaches condos phase. How could I get skyscrapers? Plese help! I really don't know what's wrong with my works (this condition happens in my other cities too)

My commercial areas are wide and lots of shops were built, but the biggest shop I got is Modde Inc. and it's not a skyscraper. It looks smaller than Condos.

what should i do?? thanks

To help you, we will need more info. Can you post a picture of your demand?

Condos are usually R-$$ or $$$. In this case you are just starting to get them, so I assume they are R-$$. When they start t build, the demand will go down more than it would with regular houses because the condos have more residents. If it goes too low, they will stop growing.

To fix this, zone more jobs. You should also check your desirability graphs. Perhaps it isn't good enough to get skyscrapers.

You're probably hitting demand caps. Make neighbor connections and then build neighboring towns; that's always a boon to demand. Build some cap busting structures (the Farmer's Market is awesome, plazas and flower gardens are good, tennis courts offer a very good cap busting-per-dollar ratio).

Do you have the Census Repository Facility from the STEX? It's a building you can add to your city that, when queried, shows the city's demand cap status (among other useful things).

My RCI demands are high for R-$ and R-$$ but not too high for R-$$$. But when I zoned areas for residentials, no one would build their houses altough I zoned them on high desireability areas.

I didn't zone any high-density residential, is it affecting the residential growth?

I've built connections (roads, subway tracks, and highways), a hrabor and an airport, too. But it doesn't give too much effect, the demands are still low.

Plop a park next to the area, that should encourage development, this thing just seems to happens now and again. I've had the same happen in my cities, R$$ demand 5k+ but nothing grows for years sometimes.

I have had some success in this situation by dropping sn elementary school in the middle of the residential zone taking up a few lots.

Should I put a large park or it'd be just fine if i put a small park? thanks

Exactly. If it is a big area with lots of young Sims expected, put in a big one. You should also have one high-school for every 6000 population under 20.

It will be activated in your municipal service menu. It is called a large elementary school. You should have both the upscale elementary and the high school by now. You could also try a city college, which leads to R$$$ educational development.

What? I don't have any large elementary school in my menu. Is there something wrong with my Simcity 4? And also, there's no upscale schools in my menu.

I already put small elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and also a university.

As far as I remember the large versions (large elementary, large high school, large water pump) come with the Rush Hour expansion.

It has been so long ago that I am not sure, but if this is true, what version of the game are you running amirapp?

Well, it is part of it. There is a patch for bug fixes on the Official site, and there is a mirror on SC4Devotion. The official site has ba bad case of very narrow bandwidth.

Don't bother with Rush Hour. It is hard to find. If you want to upgrade, Deluxe is the same meat with only different gravy. If you get a copy from an authorized download seller, it comes all fixed up and ready to go, with all patches applied. There are often sales.

With this version ou can run all the custom content here including the Network Addon Mod, which is very similar to yet another explansion pack, and it has additional packs as well. Up to you.

I don't really understand about the patch. Can you explain it further?

There are 2 patches. One will fix problems that were found after it was released. The other is so nightlighting will show up in custom BATs.

    Never mind, see post below.

Jack, he has vanilla. Those patches apply to Rush Hour/Deluxe.

There is only one patch, which is a set of bug fixes for the basic SimCity 4 issued before Rush Hour. Be sure you get the right one, as you can see there is some confusion.

The original game is very much passé now, and you should get Deluxe. Almost all of the custom content on this exchange require Deluxe patched to build level 638, which is the EP1 patch for your purchase area, and some of the BAT lots require build level 640.

The patch you have found is not applicable to your current version but to Rush Hour/Deluxe.

If you purchase a new version of Deluxe from one of the authorized download sites all patches will have been applied and you would be good to go.

And what patch sould I have to fix the problem? Which one is better? Getting the patch or getting Rush Hour? It's pretty difficult to search Rush Hour, but I'll try to search for one.

^ Actually, even though this may seem uneconomical, you are better off with Deluxe. You can either purchase the SimCity Box which includes (shudder) SC:S and Deluxe, or purchase Deluxe on-line from an authorized vendor. If you get a version with disks, you need the two patches Jack mentioned above. If you get a download, it will be already patched.
