No I believe Yahoo! and AT&T are completely separate corporations.

Anyway, hasn't Microsoft done this before but made an unsuccessful bid? Something tells me that this won't work this time either with either AOL or Microsoft trying to acquire Yahoo. Last time Microsoft made a bid of $44.6 billion. Yet, Yahoo's board of directors rejected the bid saying that the bid is "substantially undervalued" even though Yahoo's total net assets are worth only $14.9 billion. Basically, three times the actual value of Yahoo.

So what are the board of directors looking for? Paying an amount over Microsoft's bid in the eyes of any somewhat intelligent person is absurd. And since the board of directors are very picky on the amount required for the corporation's sale I doubt that any sale of Yahoo's assets will be made.

I seriously doubt that any American company can afford to bid with the board of directors being so intransigent. What would the U.S. government do if there were a foreign bidder, for example China?

Yahoo has reportedly given out financial information to potential buyers. Microsoft is said to be the most likely to purchase or merge with Yahoo, which is currently valued at $18 billion.

Doesn't speak well for Microsoft's executives. Why would they purchase a corpse?

    EDIT: (Gag!) This just in.

As a recipients of benefits from CPP, I most certainly object to wrecking the fund in any kind of volatile high-tech shares. What can these idiots be thinking?

What will happen to the email addresses?

I imagine that they will either remain the same or be converted to Hotmail/Windows Live e-mail addresses.

Since Yahoo is on the verge of corporate death, these may simply disappear as the servers are sold off by the trustee in bankruptcy. I am against this sale to the Microsoft consortium for reasons stated above.

If I had a Yahoo e-mail account, I'd be seriously considering moving it to g-mail. You don't want to be in the clutches of Microsoft.

They will still probably keep the Yahoo addresses for a few years.

I already have hotmail and Windows Live Messenger and run Windows 7. I don't mine using local software.
