Two minor transportation bugs

    Hello everybody,

First I would like to thank the SimTropolis community for giving Sc4 a whole new dimension with all the buildings and mods!

Recently I've reinstalled SimCity and I've re-downloaded all plugins and mods. I was experiencing a couple of bugs, especially many CTD's

I don't have the major problems anymore because I've managed my plugins very tight and followed all ideas on this forum, and I'm free of brown boxes.

Now I have some minor issues, which you might know how to solve. Here are some pictures to explain what the problems are. English isn't my native language so, making a picture and posting it here is a a lot easier. Also it might be that others have experienced the same problems before, and can easily recognise it

I've got SimCity 4 Deluxe, with the latest NAM and various plugins.

And I'm having problems with connecting two cities. The arrows seem to be off some how. When trying to connect two cities, it looks like it works but then the avenue doesnt enter the other city correctly. Sometimes the arrows are off, on other times there is only one arrow, instead of two.

And I'm having another small issue when building bridges, as you can see, there is a sort of black ramp on the bridge, I don't think the colour is right. As far as I remember, the ramps should be brownish. Do you know if I'm missing some essential NAM textures?

    Thanks for helping out!

I've never seen that before--actually, it looks like the arrows have been raised up a good bit from where they normally would be. Have you made any recent terrain/sea level changes or installed any of the Neighbor Connection Arrow mods out there?

You're not missing anything there. It's a side-effect of the addition of adding Rail pylon/retaining wall exemplars to allow Diagonal and Intersecting Bridge functionality as demonstrated here. The retaining walls tend to show up on bridge approaches (you'll notice a sidewalked Road texture showing up on Road bridges--that's also due to the exemplar), and because the Rail network handles "wealth levels"/sidewalk application differently, it instead shows that "black void" due to how the retaining wall model handles texture transparency.

We don't really have any current solution to it other than pulling that exemplar out of NetworkAddonMod1.dat . . . though that's not for the faint of heart by any means. We haven't yet found a way to fix that transparency issue, so in the interim I've considered pulling the exemplar out and putting it into a separate file for this next NAM release, so it can be managed a bit easier.

I think that issue will go away on it self if you smoothen out the terrain where the bridge "lands" using a slope mod (At least it did for me). Seems like you could need one anyways.

I had the same arrow problem a while ago and I think I did one of the following and it worked:

    1. (the most obvious one) Destroy the avenue in one city, save, and exit to region, go to the neighbor city, destroy the same avenue, re-drag it and save.

    2. Reconcile edges

    3. Terraform the area?

I think I had that same neighbor connection problem and the eventual solution was to reconcile that edge. I think I did it manually to prevent the resulting earthquake across the tile.
