RHW $%&^! question

Have built a RHW bridge where motorists use one of them on the way to work but choose ferry for the way back. Ive tried to ride on the bridge with a U drive-it car, but when I get to the bridge entry, the car disappears. Is this reliable?

The bridges I built are RHW2s. When I tried building w RHW4s, it didnt work at all.

And I did check that I dragged in the right direction.

If you use the extra cheats .dll, you could enter the drawpaths cheat. Colored arrows will appear on pathed things such as roads, RHW, etc. If they don't appear on the bridge, it means something is wrong.

To deactivate the cheat, enter hidepaths.

With the RHW4 did you try to build both directions right beside each other? Because you can't build two bridges right beside each other. I don't know if there is a fix for this with the NAM or not.

Thanks, good tip with the extra cheats.

Nope, I didn't build them right next to each other. There is maybe four tiles in between. I have managed to build functioning bridges before but this one was tricky. I replaced one of them with one-way road.

I've watched a tutorial on making bridges, very good. But I think I missed why you shouldn't choose a RHW-2 but instead use the RHW-4 one. I never got RHW-4 bridges to work.

Did you check in the documentation? Maybe they are not there yet? All the big mods are works in progress.

RHW-4 bridges work. You absolutely must, however, make sure they are oriented properly. If you are using American textures, remember that the yellow lines must be facing the inside of the highway, and not the outside. In other words, this:

(apologies for the hastily made picture).

Your best bet is to drag the highway in the direction you intend traffic to go. If you have a north-southward Interstate, for example, then drag the northbound lanes from south to north, and the southbound lanes from north to south.

Thanks, yes, I did think of that and looked for the yellow line. Maybe I managed to get it wrong anyway. Are there any bridges wider than two lanes available?

There is one file made specifically for RHW textures and modding currently available: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/24543-rhw-4-compact-suspension-bridge/

As for otherwise, I'm afraid not. I'm not sure if there will be any in the future but I do know that it has been experimented with. I usually drag an avenue bridge, and then drag the RHW's into both sides. The texturing lines up perfectly and the whole thing should look pretty seamless, but beware that the capacities themselves can be substantially different.
