What is shadow knitting effect called? Look up shadow knitting to know what I am talking about. And how do you apply this effect when you're drawing something?

Good question. Getting this effect without a 3D palette may be a real challenge. What medium are you using for drawing?

Well, you should consult with a professional artist. Showing a 3D effect in 2D is very difficult. Remember, it has to look different when seen from upper left, and when it is seen from the upper right. It is a 3D technique used by people wielding knitting needles.

3D effects over 2D views uses too much geometry, not advanced at all, but at the least the basic. Try to study and apply some of Euclidian geometry.

Maurits Escher was a study project when I was taking topology. The course was a walk though the Erlangen program which wound up in general relativity without one line of algebra or calculus. Just synthetic geometries. Tensors are really tense stuff.
