I have hunted high and low for an answer on this but with no joy, i'm hoping it's due to the fact that im new to custom maps and have done something silly.. basically i've installed two of the popular custom maps,

    the Philadelphia and Seattle maps.

Unfortunately, after successfully rendering them both, the water levels when entering each city section are a lot shallower than what they are in region view. I can't for my life find a simple fix for this. I just did a standard install on the maps.

Unless i'm being incredibly particular... but it just doesn't look as good as on the region map. on the seattle map parts of the river even go missing :/

    Any help is much appreciated!

firstly, the seattle (3rd attachment) import looks completely different even in region mode... compared to the thumbnail shown in the link for it (https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/5821-seattle-wa-ultra-high-detail/)

then the two philadelphia files show how the lot differs, it just looks a lot shallower, as i say, i seemed to be losing parts of the river because of this... i hope this explains it a bit better.

    Welcome to Simtropolis...

Unfortunately, after successfully rendering them both, the water levels when entering each city section are a lot shallower than what they are in region view. I can't for my life find a simple fix for this. I just did a standard install on the maps.

Are you rendering the maps without any plugins? You might have a height mod file that is affecting the terrain slightly. You can temporarily rename the Plugins folder, run the game, and try rendering again to see if it comes out as expected.

rerendered both maps with a renamed plugin folder, loading the game promptly created a new empty Plugin folder, i assumed this was to be expected

Still had the same issues. i had heard somethings about changing elevations with SC4Terraforma.. but i'm new to tweaking the game tbh.

I assumed with these ones, all the greyscale bitmaps wouldn't need tinkering with to work?

All this help is gratefully appreciated!!

Edit: Just incase it helps, this is the philly map i used https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/5629-philadelphia2/
