Default Maxis Farm Sizes?

Hello, I am wondering what some good default maxis farm sizes are, as well, how to find the flat land in my region, specificially for placing industries. Thankd you.

Maxis farms are any size you think fits your city, an average real world farm is about 51 x 51 tiles but that usually isn't to practical is SC4. As for finding flat land, you just need a good eye, don't think there is any tool to help you with that.

The city tile sizes in SC4 are so small it is hard to be able to have realistic farm sizes.

Okay then, I guess what Im really after then is just some good small sizes for farms e.g. 4x6 6x4

If you dont want those ugly pedriana plants (the large grey grain silos) to spam your farms, you should not zone anything larger than 5x6. Or you could get some mod...

Farm plots needn't be massive to be realistic. Depending on the part of the world you are in you may find lots of massive crop farms in grid layouts as a result of government land parceling. Other places have smaller parcels for things like dairy. If you go in to many places in Europe where most farms were determined by landowners then you are likely to see farms of any shape at all.

Personally if I am doing grid farms I usually place down 4 6x6 plots in a 12x12 square of road access. This gives 4 plots without overdoing road access. Note: you can only place 2 parcels at a time on a diagonal and need to wait for them to grow before you place the other two otherwise you get one big 12x12 parcel. The advantage of this grid size is that you can lay pipe under the roads to get full water access later on when you want to water it all.

Using the SPAM, the smallest plot is 4 x 5. 4x4 plots become fields with no buildings other than a water supply. SPAM also has a set of 1x1 lots both square and diagonal, and some of these have normal trees. I've been using these as urban fillers.

Yes, The SPAM mod is now a neccesity, seeing as last night, all of the farm buildings in my city dilapidated and were consequently rezoned for commercial..
