SC4Terraformer problem (rendering region)

Hey guys,

So I downloaded this map from the STEX and followed all the instructions in the readme, but just when I think it rendered it correctly in SC4, it doesn't show the region like it did in SC4Terraformer. I tried placing all the files needed in the Plugins\Region folder and then the Regions folder respectively, it either doesn't show in the regions menu or doesn't show anything but bare grass. I have SC4 Mapper, but it doesn't open when I click on it. I'm on my last nerve, and combined with my recent CTD problems, have gotten even worse.

I'm assuming you have Windows.

Did you do all of the following, in this order:

1: You unzipped the file

2: You made a folder for the region in Documents/SimCity 4/Regions

3: You put the config.bmp file in that folder

4: You opened Terraformer

5: You imported the png/SC4M file

6: You went to File > Save

If you're experiencing problems you can always render it using SimCity itself. Assuming you have the config made: (Either use Paint or Landscape Designer), all you need to do is create the region folder and add both the config and the greyscale to the folder.

Once you've done that follow these steps: :read:

- To prevent blank spaces, close all background programs first.

- Then, open the region in SimCity 4: You should see a blank region with your set config.

- Next, to render the region press and hold: ctrl + alt + shift + r

- An explorer should open, find your greyscale, select and press "Open"

- The city loading screen should open, this will tell you that it is rendering the region's greyscale. This process can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours.

- Congratulations you've have just rendered a region using SimCity 4!

Feel free to ask me questions if you're experiencing problems with this process.

Cheers!

So you're saying it opened fine in Terraformer? What map are you trying to make. Perhaps it needs checked.

I tried placing all the files needed in the Plugins\Region folder and then the Regions folder respectively, it either doesn't show in the regions menu or doesn't show anything but bare grass.

Not sure exactly what files you're putting where. Once you have the map saved with Terraformer, you should put that in the game's Region folder.

If you're experiencing problems you can always render it using SimCity itself. Assuming you have the config made: (Either use Paint or Landscape Designer), all you need to do is create the region folder and add both the config and the greyscale to the folder.

Maps made with Terraformer don't normally have a grayscale image to use in the game process. It must be done using the SC4M file with Terraformer or Mapper.

Also, moving this to the Mapping Community Room...

I assumed that the file he downloaded was a greyscale from the STEX, knowing the fact that most maps on the STEX are greyscale files.

Thanks for the advice, Elemented9. If I have another issue with SC4 Terraformer, I think I may try that out.

Did you do all of the following, in this order:

    1: You unzipped the file

2: You made a folder for the region in Documents/SimCity 4/Regions

6: You went to File > Save

Benjames98, I followed your instructions, and I think it may work this time round. If it doesn't, Elemented9's method will be used instead of using SC4 Terraformer.

UPDATE: Thanks Benjames98 for helping me with this issue. The region rendered perfectly. However, if I have another issue, I might as well render in SC4 itself.
