Fort Wayne was established by the joint colonists, British-French in 1704 as a small military outpost at the Derwent Passage in New France. Until 1911, France occupied most of Fort Wayne - and French managed government, businesses and private properties. The King of New France used to live at the Mansion de le Chatlet down at the seafront in the late 1890s until New France went into the revolution in 1903 and the government totally changed. The first mayor was elected in February 18th, 1911 - and it was the British mayor. Sir Edward George converted Fort Wayne from a French city into a new and modern British settlement. In 1917, France finally withdrew the controls of Fort Wayne - and the life changed after. Fort Wayne used to be a major seaport and major trade centre of New France until it slowly inclined to the development of industuries and offices, along with new retail in 1920.

September 9th, 1924 was the milestone of Fort Wayne because the first "skyscraper" was built, rosing up 16 floors into the sky - and meanwhile, Fort Wayne reached its first hundred thousand residents. During that time, Fort Wayne have witnessed a significant development in industuries and manufacturing. The first road connecting from Fort Wayne to Williamstow (another colony town) and the city saw a rapid population growth afterwards. Fort Wayne cared much on its education, health and safety along with the society's leisure and recreation. There are many family-friendly events going on at Cradle Point, the largest seafront parkland (able to see it in the main picture). Fort Wayne have around four major seafront parklands, including Cradle Point, Jingili and Curl Curl Beach. The city signifcantly developed along its seabanks and spread across the barren land toward Derwent River (inland river).

In the mid of the century, Fort Wayne have witnessed many of new skyscrapers popping up in the sky, such as new building of Woodcroft Building, Bank of New France office tower and residential apartments. With the developments at the City Centre, it has placed the Government under a great deal of pressure to build the new motorway - connecting from the City Centre to the southern suburbs in 1968. The motorway was completed in 1971 - in the time for the national football games. The government promises to build the new motorway to the northern suburbs after when the Southern Motorway completed, but it was never built.

In 1980s, when the people realised that swimming at Curl Curl Beach is an excellent source of recreation, fun and relaxing moments - in that time, Curl Curl underwent a great deal of population boom around its beach and on the top of cliff. During the population growth at Curl Curl, up to nine new suburbs was built - along with new shopping malls and the new beachfront parklands. The new beachfront parklands was officially named as Edgecliff, and the teenagers spend a lot of time at Edgecliff Skate Park, at basketball courts or chilling at the open-spaced parkland. Fort Wayne reached another milestone in 1984 - with the population reaching 648,693, and the official census was released in 1985 stating that there is 72% of British people live at Fort Wayne. The percentage of French people living at the city is slowing dropping down throughout the time. Fort Wayne City Council was established in 1990 to act as a city management council, and control the city boundaries within Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne City Council (FWCC) promises to build a new baseball stadium (blueprint) at Escoe Point, (the new recreation parklands - similar to Cradle Point) but was never built; and Escoe Point was developed as an industurial zone instead.

In 1994, FWCC built the new suspension bridge over The Channel, connecting to the mainland, and it carries over 90,000 cars per day as it crosses over The Channel. The new suspension bridge was officially named as Maroon Gate Bridge, and it changed Fort Wayne skyline completely. Speaking of Fort Wayne skyline - four new skyscrapers was built between 1990 to 1994. The skyline is growing "taller" and "spread-out", creating a new City-like skyline.

Fort Wayne reached 900,000 residents in 2002, and Fort Wayne City Council promises to build a small international airport up at the suburb of Coldstream - around 18km northeast from the City Centre, and once when it is completed - the tourism is expected to grow. There are some local and community contest going on in mid 2002 to choose the best and suitable airport name, and so far, Derwent Airport is winning, along with Wayne-Derwent International Airport.

In 2009, Fort Wayne successfully bidded for 2016 Olympics and the winning verdict will be declared in 2011.

At below, there are some photos of Fort Wayne for your own enjoyment.

BREAKING NEWS: There are new motorway! The new Western Link motorway, under the brand name of M3 connecting from Midland Road at Gladesville right through the western suburbs and the industurial parks and over Derwent River and connecting to other cities (intercity link). The huge success of the motorway - Fort Wayne City Council is considering to build the new motorway: Northern M2, and it will lead you to the northern suburbs.

Gipps Avenue, the major avenue from the City Centre to the western suburbs have finally completed the planting of 300+ new street-trees along the sidewalk in bid to reduce the CO2 percentage in the air. Gipps Avenue connects you right from the Cultural Centre (at the City Centre) directly to the Western Link motorway at the western end of the land - through up to 15 suburbs. Up to 130,000 cars use this road a day - 64% of them use it during peak hour. There are many of other main roads around Fort Wayne, yes, but Gipps Avenue is different.

Considering its education, there are two major schools in the middle of city - Central Middle School, which there are 876 students and JJ Cahill State High School with 1646 students currently enrolled. Fort Wayne City Council, every year, funds to all school $250,000 to build or improve their sporting facilities to keep FW healthy and fit in fun and recreation. Education Department of New France (EDNF) cares much on its education, and there are up to 10 schools within Fort Wayne city centre boundary area, and many more around its inner-city gridded suburbs and outskirts suburbs. There are so many small health clincs and small hospitals scattered around Fort Wayne, but Fort Wayne City Council felt that it is not enough. Mater Hospital, the proposed hospital which it will be built near Cradle Point, and it will be the major and largest hospital in New France. An average number of the patient beds per health clincs around Fort Wayne is around 375, but Mater Hospital will be able to accomodate up to 3,800 patients at once - and will gradually expand throughout the time.

The dream of Fort Wayne Airport (Wayne-Derwent Airport) is coming into reality after the official plans has just released to its residents. Fort Wayne airport will have one long runway and few hangars, and an airport terminal with tall control tower; at this proposed size, the airport is large enough to manage the long-distance international flights. According to Benson Constuctions, it have confirmed that Fort Wayne will have their own little "city centre" - Airport City, with few low-rise buildings such as apartments, over night hotels and commercial centres. It is to be rumoured that Airport City will have their own indoor sporting facility. Fort Wayne Airport will be only accessed by a main motorway connecting to the City Centre. The motorway have not yet constructed.

Fort Wayne have suffered a lot of financial crisis, such as city profits plummenting as low as -$50,000 and Fort Wayne City Council have decided to go ahead the risk of expanding the industurial zone in bid to increase more money - and so far, Fort Wayne City Council is currently in a surplus of +$25,000. Fort Wayne City Council is considering to build a football (or baseball) stadium using the blueprint tool, and hopefully that Fort Wayne will have their own "City Sports Team" to increase the postive rivals between the residents in sports.

Fort Wayne have spent up to $120,000 to improve the beachfront park of Curl Curl Beach, including 5-7metres tall trees along Billabong Road, Ripcurl Avenue and Wavebreak Street. As part of the $120,000 funding, some of it have been spent on the new pathways connecting from the beach to the suburb of Curl Curl through the park. However, there are always one problem within the beach recreation - traffic. High traffic problems from the City Centre to Curl Curl, Fort Wayne City Council is considering to build a new dual-lane tunnel from the southern suburbs right up to Curl Curl in bid to reduce the traffic but it is unlikely that it will happen.

Fort Wayne have reached the population of 940,000 residents with the great demand for more retail, so which means there are more shopping centres around the city! The retail, office and industurial - all are on the green 100% sastification. Fort Wayne will reach one million residents by 2010. Fort Wayne City Council promises to build the international airport 5 years before 2016 Olympics and improve the city motorway system in the bid to reduce the traffic congestion. The idea of Metro and bus public transport have erupted at the City Hall - with the protest in the front of City Hall demanding the new public transport, however Fort Wayne's budget is not strong enough to support the funding for the new public transport but Fort Wayne City Council promises to fully establish it by 2015. The Lord Mayor of Fort Wayne, Dennis Schnoell has announced that Fort Wayne will definately have the at least a metro line by 2012 - before the State Election in May 2013.

NATIONAL HERTIAGE LISTED: There are three new protected sites in Fort Wayne - the City Hall, Queen Victoria Building (QVB) and the Centrograph Park. The City Hall was built in 1876 and it still remain as an important landmark in Fort Wayne, and is located right on the main road - Margaret Street. The City Hall was designed by Paris-based architects in 1872, and the architecture shows that Fort Wayne is a powerful city because of its tall clocktower, large and thick Congress Room with poshy Front Garden. The second recognised hertiage building is the Queen Victoria Building, and it was built in 1879 by the group of architect from Toulouse in France. The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) is a major theatre for the concerts or the play and is still popular hitspot for concerts now a days. QVB is able to seat up to 3,140 seats with an extra of 200 balcony seats. Before QVB was recognised as a national hertiage building, the main courtyard in the front of Queen Victoria Building was demolished in 1988, in order to allow the development of a nine-floor apartment tower. Third national hertiage building which it was officially listed at 7:00pm, 16th April, 2009 - Centrograph Park. Centrograph Park was landscaped, planted then refurished in 1843, including the construction of Hoppers Crossing bridge, over the famous pond - Hoppers Pond. Centrograph Park was the small farmland in pre 1840s, but when Fort Wayne grew around this farm, Fort Wayne City Council decided to transform it into a beautiful "Central Park".

NEW SKYSCRAPERS POPPING UP!: There are a new super-tall skyscraper peircing into the Fort Wayne's sky, rosing up 210 metres. The new tower - 111Charlotte, on the site of 111 Charlotte Street, and it have immediately became the "icon" of Fort Wayne because of its height. It is easily visible up to 80 kilometres away from the centre of the city - in a clear day. The new skyscraper, 111Charlotte is mixed-use building with Ground Floor to 4th Floor as a shopping centre, 5th Floor to 48th Floor as an office and 49th to 60th as an apartments. 61st to 69th floor as a luxury penthouses while on the top floor - 70th floor, as an observation floor with some parts of the floor occupied as a restaurant, open-spaced area and viewing deck. The architecture of 111Charlotte tower is based off from 1920s architecture with the replica of old bricks to make it look old building (but really not)

HIGH IMMIGRATION RATE: As of mid-2009 (current CXL date) 1,384 new immigrants applied for the vista or work stay within a week, only 32% of them was approved. The reason for low approval rate is low development rate. Fort Wayne City Council purchased a two-large-block property at the City North and construct a low-class apartment building to provide a cheap accomodation for the immigrates people.

    REPLIES:

Wraner: Thank you! I love Fort Wayne already, and today I had a little 30-45 minutes play with FW, and expanded the outskirt suburbs and developed the largest school campus in the city with the proper football field, basketball courts etc.

    Domoded: Thank you! Cheers.

TowerDude: Cheers! I don't expect for any comments, but I just love sharing my CJ. I'll upload some more photos of Fort Wayne, including some snapshots of the expanded outskirt suburbs - around 15km away from the city centre.

    woodridge.png

Most recent major development was the development of the outskirt suburb - Woodridge and Westport (not in this picture - located at the other side of river). As you can see Hart Road, the commercial main street in Woodridge, with all of the local bakeries, local groceries and local stores for the "local lifestyle". The zoning system in Woodridge is very mixed, one part of the suburb is low-class, med-class, upper-class and elites, but is very balanced upon between them. There are no main school in Woodridge, but there are two elementaries, small police station and small health clinc - and up to 85% of Woodridge teenagers go to Westport High School, the largest school campus in Fort Wayne with up to 6,400 students. Westport High School have its advanced sporting facilities, including the large football field, basketball courts and an open-spaced grasslands - along with few courtyards.

Woodridge and Westport, and few other suburbs such as Tulip Fields; in the outskirts of Fort Wayne, is around fifteen kilometres away from the City Centre. Most of the motorists who live in Woodridge or Westport and work at the City Centre use the new motorway - City M3 or Hinderland Road. City M3 is not the direct-link motorway from the suburb to city centre - but it bypasses the City Centre itself and connects to Western Link motorway and then into the City. It is the fastest way because Hinderland Road is commonly congested. Woodridge is one of the first five suburbs which it is not based in the gridded-road network, and it is the modern style of the suburban layout.

At the top of the picture, you can see some part of the new City M3.

    olympics.png

The winning city for the largest international sport event in the 21st Century have been announced; the host city for 2016 Olympics is Fort Wayne, with the population of nearly a million people. The site for the new Olympic Park have been decided, and it will be located near existing Craig Heads National Park, and the southern suburbs. The site is approximately 12 kilometres from the City Centre with an easy access by the M1 motorway. As part of the Olympic Park design and layout, the Athletes Village will be located at the south-eastern end of the park, next to new protected nature land.

The new Athletes Village will include up to 15 new five-floor buildings which it is able to provide an accomodation of 13,000 athletes - and the design is very basic but clever because it will be able to convert into a permanent apartment village after 2016 Games. As part of the Village, there will be a new shopping centre, along with new offices and tourist attractions - including the new Wayneye permanent ferris wheel. Athletes Village will be most environmentally-friendly athletes park in the CXL world, with up to nine approved wind turbines along the new protected waterfront parklands. The new waterfront parklands will be home to many boardwalks, and a shading areas to provide a sense of nature to athletes, tourists and game-watchers while still in the urban area. The new Olympic Park will have one major stadium, and the design already have been approved, along with up to three small stadiums and a football field. The suburban-style aquatics centre, basketball courts, baseball stadium and open-spaced parklands will be developed at the Park.

Public Transport options? By 2012 (game time), it is when the new Metro line will commence - and one of the metro line will be the Olympics Line, and run under the Derwent Passage from the City Centre to Olympic Park. As part of the Sustainable Transport Approach scheme, Fort Wayne will use both Metro and Bus network to provide its world class public transport for the city. This Public Transport strategy is confirmed to be completely finished between 2014-2015 however the bus network will keep expanding throughout the time.

Picture below, is where you can see the map of the proposed Olympic Park - and once when it is developed, the tourists, game-watchers and athletes will be shocked (in a good way) to see a beautiful towering skyline right opposite to Olympic Park shores - across the lake with beautiful Maroon Gate Bridge as part of Fort Wayne skyline.

The official logo of Fort Wayne 2016 Games is designed by me - without using any assistance from the Internet. It is being done by the newer version of Microsoft Paint.

    Bad news.

Every time I tried to open Fort Wayne, and CXL crashes. But when I try to open other existing cities such as Canterbury, it didn't crash. Then, I tried again for some 10th time recently since yesterday, it still crashes. Looks like the life of Fort Wayne is dead now.

I am sorry everyone, I don't know what caused the problem, and I do not have the GlobexCo mods.

Yeah, oh well, I moved on anyway. Check out my another CJ, which it looks almost same as Fort Wayne - but a little bit more smaller. It is Maine, the capital city of Willoughby.
