Hi all,

I cant see trains using my railroads.

I have several passenger and freight stations, the passenger stations work fine, but i never get to see trains.

I'm also also using this freight station plugin: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/15202-medium-freight-rail-station/

with following info:

Review: This Lot functions as intended. It acts as a Medium sized Freight Station with the stated capacity, but blocks passenger traffic if placed on passenger rail lines

The station doesn't seem to work, there's no freight being transfered. Also, i tried building cities with passenger stations only, still no trains...

I'm also using this port plugin: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/19594-peg-cdk3-sp-container-seaport/

Are any of these plugins causing this? (btw, i'm using the latest NAM version)

please advice, thank you

I had that problem and what I figured is nobody used the trains so none came because I think I maybe saw one over a very long period of time.

but my train stations do get used, a lot even! There must be another reason

If you use the route query tool (Alt+/) on your tracks, does it show any traffic? Passenger stations are sometimes used as parking garages.

I hope you read all the cautions in the PEG seaport page. Seems a lot of stuff to know.

Why do you want freight stations? If you run your tracks or sidings through the industrial areas, adjacent plants will load freight directly. A Maxis freight station can easily collect any that is missed.

Freight is rather useless in this game. It either goes to a bit sink like a seaport, or falls off the edge of the city tile, never to be seen again. One of the enhancements I would like is freight handling, etc.

I am afraid that freight in this game is a red herring.

Anyway, trains won't be used if there is a faster route to the destination by other means.

I'm currently using the same station in a city and it seems to function correctly.

Just to clarify, when you say "no trains" you mean no automata on the tracks but the tracks are being used. If you use the Route Query Tool, query the tracks not the station. As Moose mentioned, the stations can act as through points. If the actual tracks are being used, then you might check your graphics settings. They should be set at Medium or High for the actual automata to appear more frequently. If the tracks are not being used, and since you're using NAM, you might make sure you have matching game and NAM driving side versions. If your game is left-hand drive and you installed NAM as right-hand drive, then the rail networks won't function (among other issues).
