Can get this rail system to work please help

Hi,

I have installed the NAM and a load of dependancies, however when I use the rail on avenue tiles like below nothing seems to work, no cars and no trains. I believe I have set this up right, but my sims wont use it. Surely if the rail of avenue tiles is included in a prestigious add on like NAM they must work in some way?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

It maybe that you need to get a few more people in your city, with only five no one needs to take the train as yet

ok i will try, the thing is i made it so everyone has to use that train to get to work, and no one will use it for some reason :S

If you query one of the houses with residents, I think you will find they are going to work at either the elevated railway station or the water building

yea you are right, so how can i get them to use the rail system provided?

basically i am trying to ge the rail on road feature to work by any means possible

You need more people living in your city. Then they will start to use the elevated rail.

Hi there. As mentioned, you need more people and more development in your city. You should check out some real-life transit maps to better understand how to plan and develop rail-based transit throughout your city. Chicago's L train map is a perfect example. Google images!

Sims in your unpopulated city won't use mass transit. If you want them to use it there are a few tips:

1. Get your population up over 20,000
   
2. Privide bus service to the stations at both ends
   
3. Put down parking garages at the R end of the train. Only ground heavy rail has parking
   
4. I did not see any connection between your ground tranition and the avenue

I made two sections of city solely joined by the connection that utilises GLR to see if i could get it to work in anyway, but i cant seem to get automata appearing on the rail

A couple things...

1. Do Sims need to take the route? Is this a new city? Are the only jobs available (and in demand) the ones where taking the GLR is necessary?

2. What is the amount of traffic. Use Route Query Tool. Depending on the NAM setup, the amount of automata is proportional to the amount of traffic.
