help with the new NAM

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. I searched the forums and didn't see anything.

I just downloaded the new NAM today, and I have some questions regarding the Simgoober functional canals and the ground light rail on avenues.

I am new to the functional canal thing, and I was just wondering where to get the ports and stuff. Is that provided in NAM? I cant find it. Also, I cant figure out how to make the network connections.

I chose the simgoober version because i have had good experience with other simgoober stuff. Does anyone have a preference between the two provided functional canals?

Also, I have GLR on avenues with a rail overpass right at the boarder of the city. Is there a way to make this tile a network connection also? (see link for picture of exact configuration). Where can I get GLR on Avenue stations?

One last thing. You may also notice that I am using the awesome semi-transparent train stations. Would there be a way, perhaps using the lot editor, to do a simply change to make a version that supports freight trains (or both)?

Thanks so much for the help.

The only canal pieces included in NAM are the network pieces. The other canal pieces and ports need to be gotten separately. If you're using the Simgoober version, the canal pieces are available on the STEX. Do a search for "Brick Canals." Several items will come up. If you want CAL's version, those items are on the LEX (Link). I personally use Simgoober's version because there is a greater variety of pieces available.

As for ports to use with the CAN-AM, there is a set available from the LEX (Link).

To place the network pieces, use "Tab" to cycle through the various pieces. They'll have the colored "strip" to help guide placement. You can use the "Home" and "end" keys to rotate the pieces in the same manner as other pieces.

Also... Where can I get GLR on Avenue stations?

You might check out the RTMT set (Link). There are GLR/Avenue stations included. Be sure to get the upgrade here (Link). There is also a set by the STBT team here (Link).

Also, moving this to the Transit Network forum for more information regarding the other questions...

You can't make a connection with that configuration. If you move the rail overpass in one tile, you can make a connection by first making a regular avenue connection and then plopping a GLR-in-Avenue puzzle piece on the last pair of tiles.

You can do this by using the TE Editor in SC4Tool.

thanks so much for the help. I still cant figure out how to make a neighbor connection with the canals

EDIT: also, I have been looking around and I can not find the base canal set. It looks like I need the BSC Brick Canal set, but that is not currently on the STEX. I just need some canal walls and functional ferries/ports/etc. Thanks so much.

Make the connection with a road. Then place the CAN-AM transit pieces on top of the road.

The Base Set can be found here. If you search "Brick Canals" you will find several other addons for the set. For terminals, you can check out these.
