What happens to me is that I download BAT's, lots, etc at let's say 7:00 am and then after I downloaded some an error message appears....I waited...then at 2:00 pm, I was able to download again...then the same things happens...

in my observation there seems to be a 5 downloads/7 hour pattern.....

This is starting to look like a multi-problem synergy. I have been unable to provoke it at this end, but that doesn't mean much since I am on a minority operating system that is fairly bullet proof.

Anyone knows how to fix this forever? I mean, I really don't want to wait 1 day before can download again or have to create another account!

It has been an open problem for some time now. It should be fixed soon, but a progress report would be good.

Possible things to try:

  1. Log off the site, clear your cache and cookies, log back on.
  2. Lof off the site, clear your cache, and cookies, cold boot (power down and up), and log back on.
  3. Use a different browser.
Please report if any of these work.

I suspect it is a switch in your internal profile at this end, but we need to isolate it.

I've just got it, too. I don't think it's a limit. I managed to download hundreds of MBs today. I hope it gets fixed...

BTW - problem doesn't fix with changing browsers: I've tried Mozilla, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 64-bit and Internet Explorer 32-bit. no help

Pretty much, in a nutshell. I will try to download something from the STEX (in the BAT section) and it's not any specific piece I'm trying to download but the error #10803 is displayed saying I cann't download more than one thing at a time.

I've tried to do some sort of research via the forums to see if the problem had been answered but I haven't found anything useful. (Sorry if I missed something and this happens to be a re-post)

Here are some of the things I've tried to do to correct it:

-Deleted all cookies, internet files, history, etc.

-Used a seperate browser

-Turned the Internet off than back on.

-Restarted my computer

If there is something I'm missing, I'd be grateful for any assistance. But for the most part, I've been reduced to being able to download only one thing per day and it's a little frustrating.

-Thanks in advance

EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed that I posted this in the wrong forum.

As a few of you may know, I've been looking for an answer to this problem also. This may be of use - until recently I had the problem with Windows 7 and Kaskersky 2011 but I have switched over to Norton Internet Security 2011 (which, by the way, seems to play around with the Windows Firewall) and the problem persists. I think (even moreso now) that it has something to do with Windows 7 and the way it interacts with Simtropolis - I don't recall any problems with any other site (I downloaded the new NAM from BSC with no apparent difficulty).

Not sure if any of the above info will help but I thought it was worth sharing.

Hiya, looks like I too am now being effected by this. I cleared all the temp files/history/cookies etc, logged out, then closed my IE browser. I loaded it back up and logged in, got an error that said there was a problem logging in. Oddly enough, I was in fact logged in successfully, but the error for downloading has not been fixed.

I will check back tomorrow, time to get back to city building ;)

EDIT: I checked back and it is working now, so thanks to anyone that may have fixed it, unless it just needed time to reset. Eitherway, back to normal.

EDIT #2: Looks like it's blocking me again after about 30+ downloads today. Oh well, thanks to whoever is working on this issue, I'll just be patient and do a little here and there until fixed, ty.

I was downloading some files and then got same error. When all downloads finished i've tryed to extract them, but few was broken(had some internet issues and some files downloading stoped before 100%). I think that problem is with some "site monitoring thing" which see those files like still downloading becouse they didnt finish.

Sorry to see you go. Not much persistence, yet you bothered to register. Did you try using a different browser?

Welcome to Simtropolis.

First off, it is not a daily limit, but a limit of 5 concurrent downloads, I believe.

Now, have you had this happen to you on less than 5 downloads?

What browser are you using? What is the rate of your Internet connection? Where in the world are you? And do you have all the updates and latest drivers for your operating system and the game?

You see, most of us don't have this problem, so we find it difficult to say that it is a problem at our server end.

Now, about downloads and plugins.

This is a serious topic. Downloads should not just be unpacked and shoved into your game holus bolus. There is no guarantee that any of them will work together. Testing is required, and you should be able to undo any plugin that isn't performant.

What many of us do is keep a completely separate downloads folder that gets the downloaded .zip files placed in sub-folders by a categorization system of your choice. I use the author, most of the time, however some plugins come with installers and they have their fixed locations, so I use their names for my downloads sub-folder as well. You should unpack your .zip files in place then take appropriate action to get the result into your plugins folder.

The sub-structure of your plugins folder should reflect the structure in your downloads folder. This is for ease of maintenance as some plugins are updated regularly. If you unpack a download and find an executable installer, all you need to do is run it. If there is no installer, you find a set of files all of which do not necessarily go to your plugins. The following extensions identify the only files that should be put in the plugins substructure:

  • .DAT - a consolidated folder containing several objects
  • .SC4LOT - the graphics base image for your lot.
  • .SC4DESC - the properties for the main building of your lot
  • .SC4MODEL - the graphics structure of the building on the lot
  • .DLL - there is only one, and it is a cheats extension of the game.

Of these, the .SC4LOT can be created by the Lot Editor and stand alone. The files .SC4LOT, .SC4DESC, and .SC4MODEL are all required for lots created with the Building Architect Tool (BAT). The file .SC4DESC, the properties description, is sometimes compressed into the .SC4LOT file using another tool, and may be omitted by the author. Whew! That's a lot of stuff to know about, but as you continue your journey into the game, you may want to learn to use the tools that do this.

Any other files that come with the download are documentation only. The readme file, if any, should be read carefully.

Inserting a plugin should be followed by a test in a sandbox region, for each and every plugin. Create a sandbox region by simply opening a new region from the game menus and name it "sandbox". This region will give you a selection of random city tiles that you can use as your testbed. Simply open and name a tile, then test your new plugin. If it works added to your existing suite, you can feel fairly sure it is safe, and you can close the game and add the next plugin then back to testing. Only when you have tested all new plugins should you proceed to your existing cities..

The STEX isn't going anywhere, so there is no rush to pull in plugins. Take a few at a time, and test each one before diving in for more. Many members have learned this the hard way and wound up searching for an incompatible plugin for days.

I'm having the same problem, someone can help me?

Welcome to the conversation.

Please describe your situation more fully. What browser are you using? What firewall? What virus scanner? How many downloads did you finish before the refusal? What operating system are you on? What is your line speed? Where are you in the world?

Several suggestions.

1. Try with Firefox. Not likely to fix this.

2. Carefully and only for the session, turn off your anti-virus. Go to no other sites while in this state.

3. If possible upgrade the speed of your link. You may be timing out somehow.

If you think about some problem long enough, yet another possible cause will bubble up from the mix. It just occurred to me while I was answering another thread that much of this problem could have to do with the server at the other end being a school or university server. Many of these arbitrarily block file downloads unless you have certain privilege bits set in your profile.

There is usually a general prohition on gaming in schools.

Greetings :)

Earlier today I was able to download two concurrent files from STEX, now I'm unable to download anything. I get the following error message:

"[#10863] You may not download any more files until your other downloads are complete"

These are the steps I've taken to resolve this issue:

I'm using Firefox 8 (also tried IE 7 ).

Cleared cookies/cache etc in both browsers.

Cold booted the router and PC.

Disabled AV software.

None of these actions have solved the issue.

For what it's worth, my location is Vietnam and my ISP has major performance issues with it's international connections. This has been an ongoing problem for months, allegedly something to do with severed undersea fibers. My source IP is available to the site administrators if they feel it's useful.

Thanks for reading.

Pierre

update 11/01/12 Working correctly again. No changes made.
