Sorry I can't post any examples of my own, as while I have tried for years to create realistic transitions between various 3rd party plop (fresh) waters and Maxis game (salt) water, I have yet to achieve anything I was satisfied with. For those of us into creating realistic appearing cities, this transition of PW to GW remains one of the last remaining major hurdles to jump. So I thought maybe if I started a thread inviting folks to show us thier efforts, maybe we could all learn together how to create these transitions, ESPECIALLY if folks posting include the names of the various water mods they used AND perhaps showed us screenshots of thier technique (if indeed a special technique was required).

Please keep in mind that throughout most of the real world, fresh water does not enter the ocean via a waterfall or any man-made structure. I'd guess that 99.9% of fresh water enters the ocean via a river, complete with a delta, extensive mud flats, and marsh lands. Smaller fresh water waterways are more easily contained within man-made courses (canals, etc), but I'd hazard to guess that all major rivers are "wild" by the time they reach the ocean. Personally, it is these "wild" transitions that *I* am most interested in seeing, but any and all transitions folks have arrived at are, of course, welcomed.

    Post away!

Good luck with this. I don't think the Maxis programmers had any intention of this happening. Also, don't discount the world ice packs for putting fresh water into the ocean. I suspect that with the current climatic trends more gets in than governments will admit. All ice is fresh water, and the Greenland pack is undergoing a serious melt and is calving icebergs are a high rate. Ice bergs may be pretty, but they raise hell with the salinity of the water around them and therefore the local ecosystem.

The site rules require that you have your own examples to start off a "Show us your..." thread. until you get your own examples, this thread will be locked. You are welcome to start a new thread once you have examples, or message me to unlock this one.

Edit: I have renamed this topic, it is no longer a show me thread. You can still show pictures if you want but now that it doesnt have show us in the name it can be opened, It is now a topic for the general disccusion of the issue.
