Stex Universal Converter [ and stock exchange?]

Hello fellow simtropites!

a while back i saw a topic that suggested that there be some type currency converter or universal stock exchange, in which sims from different CJ's could trade money. Im not sure what happened to that topic [ i think it died somewhere in the fourms] but i would like to revive this topic again.

I have recently been thinking of ways to get an accurate scale from one CJ to another, and i have decided that the first step is we would need to create a "universal currency" which would serve as a base. the currency rate of the universal currency[ from now on out it will be reffered to as the " Simtropolis Universal Dollar" or S.U.C for short] would always be "1 " and would never have a changing rate [ this allows for easy conversions]. i figured that i could base the rate of change of a specific CJ's currency by events that are currently happening in the CJ which would effect currency/ stock values or possibly real estate values [ an ideal from nonny moose i believe ], but the only problem is i feel like i would need some type of formula for converting the CJ's currency to the Simtropolis Universal Dollar.

Any help you could give me with this problem would be greatly appreciated, im truly stuck here.

im going to attach a file of what i have come up with so far [ its just a rough draft]

SIncerely, Iown

[ P.S. who wants to design the Simtropolis Universal Dollar? 25.gif ]

Why not just compare it to the Simoleon. That's a never changing amount and everyone can compare it easily too.

..Just a little on the name.

There is a real World Universal Currency.. which is known as the American Dollar. If a country wants to trade oil with another country.. ex; Saudi Arabia wants to trade XXX,XXX,XXX barrels of oil with UK. The UK would have to exchange their currency to the Universal Currency (The American Dollar) before buying the oil from Saudi Arabia.. Saudi Arabia would then have to accept the American Dollars, and convert that money into their currency.

So using the name "Simtropolis Universal Dollar" sounds very amateur and stupid (sorry).. but just as Veryconfused mentioned about the Simoleon..

Why not call it the "Simtropolis Simoleon"?... Because Universal Currencies slowly, but surely change over hundreds of years. A European country once had the title before the America had taken it. It's rumored that America's debt will cost them the Universal Currency.

    Why?

Simply because they're printing money and giving it to countries whom debt they owe.. in 3 - 10 years the interest would be so high for America that even if they taxed over 330+ million residents 100% of their income.. they still won't make a dent in the interest.

So there needs to be a temporarily World Reserve Currency (universal currency) before another economically dominant country takes the title. So everyone flocks to the 1800 ages where GOLD was the Universal currency.

This is why the American Dollars continues to drop sharply while Gold sky-rockets.

Soon the World Reserve currency would change.. So why not make this interesting???

Make the Simtropolis Simoleon (STS) the World Reserve Currency, then maybe in the future we could have a depression situation and change the World Reserve currency to something we could work with in the future?

All these financial options are very interesting.. We have Asian CJs, European CJs, and Western World CJs, and having a Universal currency that is subject to change would be awesome. Some CJs could portray exponential growth, while others can portray abandonment and riots, etc.

Why not the Simtropolis Simoleon?? :b

i like that name [ since its already a part of the game basically]. the one reason i used the "universal dollar" name is because i was only using it as a place holder- since i knew someone would probably come along with an better name for it. as i neglected to mention earlier this might be a huge group effort, and take at least a small 2-5 man team to man. at first it would start off only with the most noted CJ's [ places like aydina, tenaments & rust, etc] but eventually, more and more will be added [ it represents new countries popping up and experiencing economic growth]. im still debating on whether the Universal Currency [ i.e.t he simtropolis dollar] should also change in rate, or if i should keep it at the standard 1.00$ rate for easy conversions.

if any help that anyone can give me any help with this, i'd greatly appreciate it 43.gif

I don't see why not to change the rate of the Simoleon. I do have to say however that if the Simoleon would be the universal currency, some CJs would use the Simoleon as their base currency. That way, it would make more sense to have it fluctuate. I would recommend using the math features in Excel to do the calculations for you. I would think the best way of looking at it would just be to look at the new CJ posts from the previous week and base the fluctuations on it.

The last time I looked at an airline ticket, compensation for lost luggage was in Swiss Franks. Has it changed to the U.S. Dollar? I doubt it.

The only real universal currency is gold. Many banks have large vaults containing gold bars, and the way an international settlement works is that a skip-load of gold is moved from one part of the vault to another.

The Bank of Nova Scotia at King and Bay streets in Toronto has enough gold in its vault to deflect a plumb bob.
