The Secret World - will you play it?

The new FunCom game, The Secret World, claims to be a revolutionary game when it comes to MMO games. Evidently t's kind of a sandbox game, freeform, where there are no classes or levels. You can join one of three secret societies, The Illuminati, The Dragons and The Templars.

Personally, I've been pretty excited about this game for a while, because I liked the freeform, and it looked interesting in many aspects. I figured it would be a lot of strategy and exploration, making the right friends and connections. Besides, I've loved earlier FunCom games like The Longest Journey and Dreamfall (yes, a whole different category, I know). But the trailer they released recently... seems more like endless, braindead fighting to me. I'm so SICK of it, I'm not a fighter game kind of person AT ALL, and if that is its main objective, I'm not so sure what I think. What do you guys think? Will any of you buy it?

uhm... yes... no... what the hell? fantasy, mystery, since fiction, horror, guns, swords, magic, aliens, dragons, t-rex, vampires, musclecars...

interesting to say the least. wierd as hell, but interesting.

what gives me a headache tho (except the subscription fees) is the involvement of EA... my prediction is the game get's a decent start and then they leave us with half-hearted patches on laggy servers, deplete funcom to the last cent and eventually close it as non profitable.

so... nope, not gonna play it.

I've never heard of the game before but I just want to put in - I LOVE The Longest Journey! It's one of a select few games that I actually finished(meaning it held my attention span long enough) and its not a sandbox game.

On strength of TLJ alone, I think I'll give this a shot regardless. I'm hoping there's an april ryan type of class.. 4.gif

I just said in my post that there ARE no classes. But as far as I've understood, you can customize your character a LOT, so I suppose it's possible to make one look like April Ryan. It's not all that much like an adventure game, as far as I have understood.

And I completely LOVE TLJ aswell. I'm actually replaying it now, just started chapter 5. I love Dreamfall too, the story with the little girl really touched me... but I wish there was more continuity, and I hope they don't "ditch" April and the others alltogether. I wanna know what happens to them!

I've never ever heard of TLJ before... so I google pictured it and pretty much the first result was a half-naked dark haired well built woman and a purple baby gorilla.*

Guess there's no way life can get any better than this. Winning, duh!

*yes this was a screenshot of TLJ

looked pretty cool, I'm going to tell my cousin about it. Not much of an online gamer, scared it will eat away all my download allowance.

    was a Templar you?
