diagonal container ports

I wanted to know if it is possible to put some diagonal port pieces together. The seaport lots are my favorite and I love putting together a totally unique industrial port in the game. I don't know how to make anything myself to use in the game other than what I can make in the lot editor. I don't know if anybody else has asked this question, but I think having the ability to go diagonal with the seaports would add a new dimension of realism to the game.

If you mean being able to place the seaport on a diagonal coastline, then the lot would have to have some overhanging pieces to make it look decent.

It would be neat to have a dock coming out at an angle, though. It's common in many ports where the train line goes out over the water to make loading ships easier. Since it's difficult to make a sharp 90 degree turn, the docks are oriented at 45 degrees to the shore. See Seattle for many good examples of this.

There are some diagonal seawalls (made by Marrast, I think) that could be used in lieu of an actual dock in a seaport.

I certainly support this idea. It would be nice especially if such a set included some heavy rail tracks for freight delivery to the port. In general freight is poorly handled in the game, and a revision or expansion pack should include inter-tile freight. It would add one more problem (solving) dimension to the game.

When I started building my container ports I looked at real ports to get an idea of what they looked like and most of them have 45 degree bends. I have been wondering for a long time if it was possible to make anything like that for the game. Not just put a straight piece on a diagonal shoreline, but to actually build the port at an angle.

If the lot was sized appropriately then the dock could just be modeled on an angle. IIRC, there are currently some seaports (part of the X-Ports mod) that convert freight rail onto freight ships. It would just be a matter of creating the model. It's definitely a good idea, as you're correct that most ports have a 45 degree angle, for the reason I gave in my post. In any case, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible.
