SimCity 4 Deluxe Steam Version Update?

So after an hour or so of searching and reading on here I've come acorss quite a few other people having problems doing the sku_1 update for deluxe.  For some reason the update won't update my simcity_1.dat file.  I have no other mods or patches besides BAT's off the LEX.  Is it because I don't have a CD copy of the game and it is a downloaded steam version?  Is there a wor kround for this?  Thanks.

Welcome to Simtropolis...

My understanding is that the version that comes on Steam already has the updates applied. I think you can check this by looking at the version of the game's exe file. If it is 1.1.641, then the game is already up-to-date...

If you downloaded the game from steam, there are no updates needed.

Ummm. i bought the rushhour pack version and when i downloaded sku1-sku5 the only thing that happens is that my yards and parking lots change into grey and green emptiness. I have no idea why it does this can any of you help me.

If you did not get the online version, the game patches can be found at SC4Devotion. Use the EA Support link on the left side of the homepage.

When you apply the game patch the graphics options will be reset to "Low". Resetting them to "High" should return the details to the previous appearance.
