Are there subways in CXL 2011?

Yes, you can build subway networks with stops underground. The trains are usually underground, as there are currently no stops for ground-level or elevated rail, unfortunately.

Subway is called metro and it is built in a special way. The subway can be built above ground but the stops are all underground.

Ahhhhh, I don't know which game are you playing, or even asking about.......

Subway is just another word for metro, and CXL 2011 is advertising everywhere that metro is included in it. Ergo, the game has subway, and no trains.

Furthermore, if you play the game and try to build a metro (subway), it will start with stations that are underground, and comming out on ground level (as in the real world), and continue with underground tunels for trains. I don't see how you could confuse this with ground trains.

A train is any vehicle that runs on a track. That means passenger rail, freight rail, monorail, lightrail/trams, metro/subway and arguably maglev cars are all trains.

Remember that while the metro gan go above ground, under ground, and at ground level, you can't build level crossings and only stations underground. Finally the metro track looks edgy and unrealistic, and the building tool is unresponsive... (i'm in a ranting mood)
