The Simtropolis Geography Bee

The title states it all. The setup will be just like Duke87's Random Trivia, except all geography-related.

Round 1 will focus on US Geography, ranging from counties to interstates to rivers and lakes. The rounds will cover a larger area each time until we reach world questions.

But enough about the next rounds. Turn down the lights, open your mind, and let Round 1 of the Simtropolis Geography Bee begin!

1. What County has a seat of Fort Worth?

2. What US interstate travels through both Phoenix, AZ and New Orleans, LA?

3. Name the island chain that branches off of SW Alaska.

4. What state had the first (and last) queen of a state of the US?

5. What state borders closest to Stamford, CT?

6. What state has a very small population, but is the #4 largest state in the US by size?

That's all for now. Good luck!

Good job everyone. I don't keep track of points or anything, but someone else could if they have nothing better to do in their life.

Next set: (Same as the first, straying on US Geography for a bit)

    1. Which state has a border with 3 Canadian provinces?

    2. Which state has a population so small it is less than most major cities?

    3. What city surpassed Philadelphia in population to become the 5th largest city in the US?

    4. What is the name of the lighthouse at the very end of Long Island?

    5. What state(s) does Ellis Island belong to?

    6. Name the town at the very tip of Cape Cod.

    7. What state route leads all the way through the Florida Keys? (As in, "SR-**")

    8. Name the second most populated county in the US.

Well, there you go. Now answer them!!!

    2) The state with the least population is Wyoming

    3) Wild-ass guess: Phoenix?

    4) Is it Montauk Light? (that would be too easy...)

    5) The natural area of Ellis Island belongs to New York, the landfill parts belong to New Jersey

    6) it's Provincetown, not Providencetown.

    7) It's US-1, not SR-1. (the hidden designation is SR-5)

    8) New York County, NY?

This one's taking too long - the answer is Nebraska.

You'd have to be a complete nerd to know that one anyways.

New set! (This one will include a few questions involving more than the US! Yay!)

    1. Florida has how many original counties?

    2. (Let's start it off nice and easy) What waterway was built so that ships sailing to and from the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans didn't have to make the treacherous journey around Cape Horn?

    3. Which two US states have the most national park sites, with 8 each?

    4. What is the name of the only county in Great Britain to have 2 coasts?

    5. Which continent is the only countinent to lack a desert?

    6. What is the name of the only country in the world to have a flag that is just one color (green)?

    7. What is the name of the oldest capital city in the Americas?

    8. What is the name of the city that is technically the highest city in the world?

    Get to work.
