Seaport depth question

Hello,

Ive figured out how to build a seaport thanks to all the useful tutorials. Still all my freight  ships sink/dissapear shortly after leaving port (at one of my cities i had the option of building a lighthouse but it made no diffrence). I googled a lot but i couldnt find anyone else having the same issue. My guess is that it has to do with the depth of the river (it is in mid land, not the sea) but i have no idea of which is the minium depth or how to tell.

Anyone had this issue before or know something about it?

Thanks

Those animations aren't intended to "be real".. they are just part of the "look and feel".. however with respect to depth, 15m should be "standard" depth at any areas where you expect ferries, cargo ships, etc to move... there also is a pathing issue.. if you want them to work you must assure the path they follow is clear.. their pathfinding skills are very limited. They also will not make sharp turns.

Thanks for the answer, that pretty much summarises it all. Knowing it doesnt affect the seaport itself ill let it be for now.

Im downloading the functional seaports from the lex, lets see if it stays the same.

Don't worry too much about seaports.  They are just data sinks for freight.  If the ship actually sinks, that's not surprising since the freight is sunk into the great bit bucket as soon as it arrives in the port (or at a neighbour connection).

Hehehe, i eventually realised that. They dont worry that much about the ships as about being paid.

Anyway, the functional seaports are great (the rural ones are beatiful), shame not enough of my cities have water.
