I'm playing CXL (Not 2011) and I was wondering what the best way to help an ailing budget was.  I think I've done everything.  I've cut some bus routs, increased oil production, and tore down a landmark, a stadium, and a highschool. If there's any other, better way of saving money, please, do tell.  Thank you!

Oil production costs the city money. OmniCorp by default will not give you a good deal for oil so your only solution is to start charging for trades to other cities.

For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

I haven't noticed that Omni offers different 'deals' (prices) for different products..... According to my experience, they buy and sell everything for the same price.

Sorry, I meant that OmniCorp will not give anyone any good deals whether buying or selling.

Go to the budget panel, go to the tab that says "Most Expensive", and bulldoze anything that isn't essential.

Once you're at maybe 50,000 pop, specialize in one or two resources. I found oil to be a good one. Unlock buildings such as the fuel cartel that multiply your resource output (effectively reducing how much it costs you to produce one token) till you can eventually make a profit by producing more of the resource and selling to omnicorp. Not much point early on though as it'll cost you more to produce the resource than what omnicorp will pay you for it.

It is also a good idea to combine oil producing cities with electricity or waste processing production. Fill up as much of the map you can with oil and utilities and you will certainly unlock all the token multiplier buildings.

The problem is that any one city can only hit maximum token multiplying for up to 2 tokens with only minor token multiplying for up to 2 more.

Therefore, for maximum token production with minimum city slots used. Dirty Industry and Manufacturing Industry should go in the same city, Fuel production and Waste services should go in another, High Tech Industry and Offices should go in another (Holidays have no token multipliers so they would go best here), Agriculture and Water should go in another, and Electricity could be placed in any city though clean cities would need to rely on Wind and Nuclear power while dirty cities would be more profitable with Large (oil) Power Plants (I usually do not use the token labs or universities for Electricity but I do use the exceptional offices and warehouses).

Agriculture has the lowest costs and food is bought at the same price as anything else by OmniCorp so farming cities tend to be the most profitable cities that export to OmniCorp and don't charge other cities.

Cities that export High Tech industry tend to have low cash flow though this can be increased by building medium or large offices in the same city and exporting office services instead of importing them.
