Cities XL 2011 Crashing

I just purchased Cities XL 2011. Let me begin with, I have played and still do play the 2009 version and there is absolutely no issue with performance and the game never crashed once. With 2011, I can not say the same. This game has evident performance issues compared to its predecessor and I am experiencing random crashes. I will be playing and all will be well and all of a sudden, ill go to place a road or a lot and the game with crash. This has happened at least 10 times in the past 4 hours. Is anyone else experiencing such crashes?

System Specs:

Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6ghz (Turboboost to 2.8ghz)

4 GB DDR3 1333 RAM

500 GB 7200rpm SATA HDD

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1GB

Feedback would be appreciated, thank you 9.gif

Maybe the Turboboost is not working? It requires 2.5ghz. Under 2ghz and you are just asking for trouble (especially with a hyperthreaded processor). Everything else seems fine. Maybe you should post your DxDiag? ... or at least your Windows experience number (I bought mine as a 5 but with the updated rules, my graphics card is now a 4.6)

I'm experiencing frequent crashes also. Very annoying. After the game first installed and I got a couple cities up and running, there were no crashes. As my cities have progressed, the frequency of the crashes have also. I'm crossing my fingers Focus provides good support and patches this soon. The frequent crashing, progressive degradation in performance that requires a reload that can lead to a crash, and the unending trade token notifications are really getting to me. Besides these three things, I really like the game and think it has the potential to be a legendary game if the bugs are fixed and the game is opened up to modding.

My specs are:

AMD Phenom II x4 @3.2GHz

4GB Ram

ATI Radeon HD 5850

The token notifications only appear if you have some problem with the trading (that is, if a resource you're exporting is on the verge of negative production, or if you sometimes don't have enough cash tokens for import); if everything's normal, you shouldn't get them at all......

As for the crashing and the performance, I can't help. Only Focus could, probably 9.gif By the way, did you try to turn off 'Atmospheric display' in the Video options? It seems this one feature swallows many video resources, without adding anything significant (it's the graying effect when you zoom off the city, as if you're looking through a layer of air)....

i got the same problem , but the notifications come from other cities. for example - im playing city A and get a notification ,that citiy B has a problem with the contract of city C. But it doesnt iteresst me cause im playing city A and not the others.

There should be an option to switch off notifications!

The only reason this would happen would be if you took the tokens needed by the other cities.

No, I think this is indeed a bug. I've had it several times, during BP construction. It lists the message for all resources used in the current stage of the BP (and always those resources and none others), once per all cities you have. This can't be anything normal.

Defakto, believe me, it's a bug! It's simply impossible for such messages to appear for every sinlge city you have in your planet, regardless of if you're currently trading this token with it or not!

Although it only appears for me if I have trading problems, that is if the resources I'm currently trading are on the verge of zero demand/offer balance. You need to overproduce (push the dot to the right, offer section) in order to be able to trade. Check if the resources you're trading are close to zero and try to produce more, you should be able to evade the messages.

Yeah, they need to do something about them. Although I guess if they resolve the multiple notifications bug, it'll be OK to play. I play without problems with the occasional notification popping up, but it's 'real' - one single resource going overboard, so a single message. It's actually usefull to know when you have trading problems, as long as there aren't 50 messages to click on.....
