i need help about .sgbin repak

first,i apologize my poor english

I would like to change the texture of medium bus,i use the pakunpak software to unpak sgbin,when i finished editing the texture, i repak it.

finally i test in game,as soon as the bus appears in the screen,the game crash

beginning,i think it must be something wrong with the car texture,but soon after,i found that the problem is the sgbin.

i unpak the bus sgbin file,and without any edit,i repak it, the file size changed,and game still crash.

anyone can help me to fix this problem?thanks....

Hello mrxia,

The problem could be the program you are using to edit the file.  I have had problems like this many times with my repacked files being a different size and the game crashes.  Usually all I have to do is take a new copy of the file and edit it again then repack which usually works.  I just use the windows NotePad or Wordpad to edit my files which works over 90% of the time.  I am to cheap to buy a real file editor....

I have noticed that when I copy and paste text from one file to another is when I have the greatest problems with bad repacks.

    still having some problem...

    i still can't pack the sgbin file with a new name...the game still crash

    i can only use thecxlPackager to Replace the dds file with no change sgbin file name...

    this is the mod i made for cxl...

    Hello mrxia,

    It is a pleasure to meet you.  

    First let me say it is better when you repack your files to use the .patch extension rather than .pak This can lead to problems.

    I have zero experience doing any mods with the sgbin files. From what I understand the sgbin files are the 3D models of the different items within the game.  The different files within the sgbin when you unpack them are the 3D model, textures, and light rays I believe.  The names of the items within the sgbin file correspond to the class file whose Model has the same name.  In the example of your Modern Shopping Malls b_pro02_t3.sgbin corresponds to the class file b_pro02_t3.class.  If I understand you correctly that you are trying to change the names of the files within the sgbin then I think all of the files must be changed to the same name and you would either have to edit the class file  

    to be the same name as your sgbin or create a new class file with a new name having the

    the name of your sgbin all with the same name.  With a new class file the old building will still be there also.

    The game crashed on my beceause i did not do the steps whit HxD.

    Maby is also the problem with your mod

    Thank both of you to remind me edit to the file names and use the hxd tool

    i fix the problem with use HxD edit the Graph.bin file

    now,i can change sgbin file name!!!with no replace game buildings,thank you again

    Remind everyone, do not use pakunpak to repak sgbin or pak,the game will crash...

    apologize again with my poor english,and thanks john and luigi87 help me

    yes, it's work

    only change graph.bin, in game the buliding will have no texture,only 3d model

    you also need to use HXD tool to change XXX_l1?XXX_l2?XXX_l3...... file

    You are welcome.  Glad to see that you figured out how to solve your problem.  I like your new textures, it brings more variety into the game.  I thank you for your work on these new textures.  Let us hope that Focus will release some tools soon for creative people like you to make new 3D models for the game also.
