Um... When I meant old I meant really really old like say about 10,000 years old!!

And no Aleppo is not a seaport, but archaeologists have proven that it was once a lake the city itself. (some say like over 100,000 years before the lake dried up).

The surprising thing that the capital of Syria, Damascus is 15,000 years old!

But unfortunately the mass spread of buildings caused all the heritage to disappear.

Zack, most of the cities in that part of the world that were not destroyed are really old, on the order of millennia, and most of the newbies in the west die of penis envy whenever they think of them.

If Aleppo is land bound now, in Shakespeare's time it must have been on or near a major body of water because his reference does indicate that it was accessible to seamen.  How far is it from Aleppo to, say, the Black or Caspian seas?  The Med?  It would only take one geologic event to upset any such arrangement.
