Welcome to the wonderful world of 'plugins'!

Mostly it's just patience, the bulldozer and of course, zoning the appropriate size for the building you want to grow...

There are also 'Mods' that block 'Maxis' buildings, which will give the downloaded buildings a better chance of growing.

You can find Block All Maxis Buildings by DuskTrooper here  https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=16393

    Bienvenue.

When you download a building, the download particulars will tell you whether a building is ploppable or growable.  If it is marked ploppable, it can only come into the game from the menu.

The growable selection is random, and all growable lots are pooled in a set of memory tables, and chosen randomly.  I am not impressed by the quality of the random generator because it seems to favour things in the middle of the list,  Since the Maxis stuff loads first, the growables from your plugins are at the end.

If, as we suspect, the generator takes things from the middle mostly, the end stuff is going to have a hard time.  You'll  notice, for example, that the randomizer often arrives on the same building for adjacent lots.  If I was writing this program that would be disallowed.  Poor thing was rushed on to the market in such an unfinished condition.

    Au revoir, mon gars.

That explains a lot of questions i have, such as why i after playing this game for years, still encounter new buildings, it's because they were on the end of the list!

It's a good way to make ''rare buildings'', but i guess that the bad outweights that.
