Cities XL 2011 - Tech issue releases some pre-orders!

Apparently there has been some kind of tech issue at Focus which has allowed its system to send out many (number unknown) download links and activation keys for Cities XL 2011. I received my key around 6:02 PM Eastern Daylight Time – Yesterday, October 12, 2010, an unbelievable 48 hours before the official release date. At that time the download servers were working fine and I was able to download, install, activate, and play the game. Focus posted a message in their forums this morning stating they knew about the issue but the post did not react in any other way.

The game is 100% better then the first edition. There have been a number of tweaks and refinements that many players may not notice. Overall my impression is – we have an actual competitive game that should do well against the main stay SimCity 4. The game, to me seems more organic then before and not as forced. The flow works better and the addition of achievements makes for a fun – goal oriented game play!

Those who pre-ordered – go check and triple check your email boxes (spam folder, etc.) and get the game installed – you WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID!!

Don't worry, my download speed is only a little better

By the way: I had a weird problem with accessing my download links through Gmail; it simply wouldn't open any link. If something like this happen to nayone, just forward the e-mail with the links to another mail client (I used Yahoo), and everything will work.

It was the same thing for my gmail account, however the simple solution for me was to simply copy the shortcut in the email, (right click shortcut, and choose copy shortcut) then paste that into your browsers url bar and it should download.

I found the download manager to be quite a bit faster than downloading the 2 larger files directly.  I received a steady 1.6MB/sec with the download manager and only 365kb/sec downloading the 2 larger files directly through my browser.

To me, the game has been enhanced and is as the OP said, 100 times better than the original, it's all the little things that have been either fixed or enhanced that add up to the big picture.

However, the gameplay is still the same so if somebody disliked the original games actual game play, they are not likely to like the game play in 2011 version since it is identical.

I am trying to pay by credit card - the preorder doesn't process. Anybody else having this problem?

another solution i found for gmail is copying then pasting the shortcuts into your browser bar. that solved my gmail issue
